  • People working in supermarkets need additional tax credits to maintain a living wage.
Supermarkets make millions or billions of pre tax profits so have a few quid spare.
The government should not have to subsidise salaries when Supermarkets (and other companies) can afford to pay their staff a living wage (not the bare minimum).

    Make prescriptions free for everyone

Or at least include asthma in the freebie list, sorry, bit of a selfish one!

    I'll second that one.

Many lorries enter the UK from overseas. They add significant wear and tear to the roads, yet pay no tax, and no fuel duty (as many buy fuel overseas and do not fill up in the UK) and some carry no insurance.

All goods vehicles originating overseas should be required to pay their fair share of duty for road/fuel usage.

(UK lorry drivers have to buy road tax when entering the continent).

Parliament should have a government run 'hotel' for MP's instead of paying them for houses or per day in the commons.

The increased personal allowance is lost for anyone over 65yrs. if they have even moderate savings. I suggest that this tax allowance is given in full regardless of savings, thus giving a saving of up to £200p.a.

Free money makeover for over 65s. Train people (or alternatively clone Martin) to carry out financial health check/independent financial advice.

My parents are not comfortable with buying financial products on internet so miss out on all the best deals.

    Hi
Why do gas companies say that gas price rates are linked to oil price, but when the oil price falls the gas rate stays the same.

That would be because they are all lying, greedy b******s.

They witter on about the price of gas on the market, however only 10% is traded there. Most gas is traded off market and at substantially lower prices... Guess where our utility companies buy their gas...?

    2 ideas.......

    1. Enable unused tax allowances to be transferred to partner

    2. Mandate that HM Revenue and Customs repay any overpayment of tax within 90 days of claim (I've been waiting months for a straightforward case to be settled)

Consumers set their own credit card limit (up to an upper one prescribed by company) rather than current set up where company ups the limit when a large bill is settled.

A requirement that HMRC (and Pension Service) actually answer letters within a month would be appreciated. I have been trying to get answers regarding my state pension since October 2008. I have involved my MP and gained help from the Pension Service but not HMRC they take but don't give.
