Congratulations! Im happy for you, yes good idea to keep the subprime cards open so you get more postive data on credit file and then when time is right, close them!

My application for £100 overdraft has been declined by HSBC - i have paid off the managed loan in full, got a behaviour internal score of 60, and clean credit files from all 3 credit ref agencies (except for 1,2 and 3 late payment on vodafone mobile account back in 2004 on Experian file)... i feel P I S S E D off , don't know where to turn now. I got a salary paying more than £2,500 per month.
Whats more interesting is that there is no reason given...so i will have to write to head office and find out why i have been declined for a meany £100 overdraft!!!!

I got declined for a £50 overdraft as well. I have around 50 searches on my Experian file though, so my decline was warranted.

I sent a letter to the manager address on their website and someone from underwriting department phoned me a few days later telling me they have manually put a £100 overdraft on the account.

Send them a letter and they'll likely add an overdraft manually.

In other news, I know these CreditExpert scores are a waste of money, but they give you a good idea of how your credit file is improving etc...

I was 0 credit score 4 months ago, now it's 514, which is still very poor, but a massive improvement. The only thing that's stopping me now is the searches. 24 in the last 3 months, 49 in the last year. Pretty sure I'd get a standard credit card if I didn't have those searches.
