I am going to wait for the letter and see what they say.
Just bear in mind a refer doesn't mean no, it simply means they couldn't make an informed decision there and then and so it needs to be looked at manually.... for instance, if you've not been in the UK for 7yrs this will refer it (that is one of many examples)....

Correct, It will be removed from CRA records after 6 YRS of default date.
Incorrect, First Direct will remove it from their records after 6 YRS, the HSBC GROUP never remove such information and most other banks will keep for at least 10 YRS.0 -

LOL, not again - be told will you!!
Ok, please post proof? Mine is here from the ICO - Look at page 15 (of 32):
http://www.ico.gov.uk/upload/documents/library/data_protection/practical_application/credit_explained_leaflet_2005.pdf
Here is an image proving it as well....
So why would the bank themselves keep data for 10 years or whatever when they have no need to and no legal requirement? Also, the moment we have no contract I can demand they remove all my data as my permission to share/use my data would be revoked! You need to follow law and not what the banks 'may' tell you.
DPA 1st principle clearly covers us, in fact so does the 2nd - 7th principles lol. If there is no account then they will not retain my data, I can promise you that!2010 - year of the troll
