Poor me, I am feeling very sorry for myself. I had a bad credit history but have been good for the last 6 or 7 years...I even have got a mortgage now! But I've had some recent trouble with the bank refusing to give me a new loan or up my overdraft.
So I got a Experian report and everything looks OK to me, lots of green 0s and nothing else, I am on the electorall register etc. So I thought I would apply for a Vanquis Card just to see what happens - and after 3 weeks of waiting they turned me down
I feel like an outcast! I don't really want any advice, just sympathy please he he he. I do have a large number of checks now so I think I will just lie low for the next 6 months. Its so hard though, especially with things like insurance quotes that you really do need.
Check Equifax? Have you got a lot of borrowing at the moment? Have you lied anywhere that would produce a CIFAS warning?2010 - year of the troll

Me? Lie? I am a lady AND a civil servant, both are notorious for always telling the truth :A I think I will try Equifax though thank you, I don't have a huge amount of borrowing - just my mortage, a £1600 bank loan and £800 O/D (no defaults on it etc).
Thanks for the advice!0 -

You are responsible for paying, not them mate!
I can pay now with my debit card, but their statements are showing a direct debit has been raised and crediting my account for it, so if I pay the account will be in credit. How do I know they are not taking the money from my bank in the future?

LOL, a lady civil servant is a nightmare combination :rotfl: (I'm an ex civil servant and learned to lie throughout my career - now i'm free, my lies have subsided hehe)....
Anyway, check Equifax and then consider SARing CIFAS & N Hunter which will show every possible scenario and answer you one way or another! You are on the electoral register aren't you?
Your borrowings vs Income are low so it wouldn't be that (assuming you're at least EO grade so £23k or so....) But regardless, credit is hard to get now and if you dont use it much, then this could be the reason why - its a tough one at the mo cos people get refused that normally just wouldn't!2010 - year of the troll

Mate you need to be calling them! You're also paying by card so that covers it - but ring and see what is happening! It could be that the DD is coming from a wrong account, i.e. they mis-typed the number and Joe Bloggs has been paying it (til he notices)......2010 - year of the troll

You cannot go around telling people these things, the law is there for a reason - not to be abused. I explained that banks keep data for 'as long as necessary' but no longer than 6yrs from closure date - you want an answer that aint there!
You say HSBC keep data forever? Watch this space!

"New"?
Do you mean KNEW?
Here's an example of how "New" should be used: I bought a brand new TV set yesterday and it's brilliant!

But unfortunately for you the man does know - and posts proof to back himself up - unlike you! Guess cos you've just been proved wrong you'll start resorting to insults. like the others? Ok, go for it...
