  • just wondering , back in 2002 , I had a first direct account - long story short I ended up owing them and it was sold to Cabot - I think anyway as I paid them.

Would this mean I am blacklisted still within 'HSBC' group?Obviously I am sorted these days , nothing showing on my CRA files .Just wondered if I applied for a account with them or a M+S credit card it would go against me.
  • can anybody please tell me how to obtain my credit report from the CRA's also the address and what i would need to send them. any help would be great thanks.

  • Hello, new user to this forum.

I have applied for a Barclaycard initial this Monday. I called them up the following day only for them to tell me that my application has been unsuccessful. I then signed up both to Experian and Equifax to find out why I have been declined. It turns out I have a default from o2 about 2 years ago. This has angered me because I have paid off that bill when o2 requested that particular payment. I have been reading this thread and to wait an extra 4 years to get rid of this seems to be too long. I now have a score of 660 and would like to know if I can apply for other cards like Vanquis/Aqua/Capital One with my default on my report? I would like to build my score.

Any advice would be much appreciated

Firstly, forget the score you received from the credit reference agencies, it means nothing. Each lender has their own scoring techniques.

You can most certainly apply for Vanquis or Capital One with a default on your credit file. I personally wouldn't try applying for Aqua because they are probably the hardest subprime card to be accepted for.

You'll have a good chance of being accepted for Vanquis or Capital One. Many people has been accepted for these cards with defaults and CCJ's.

I just made an application with Vanquis and was unsuccessful. I a bit puzzled as to what do to now.

I would have thought that you would be clear.Dunno if anyone else has been there and knows better though?as these days with everything linked up , your data might still show as a bad payer.

It will be gone from both the CRA's and First Direct after 6yrs from date of default...... :j

Although i'd wait a while, you dont want to get declined for the sake of it, got to HSBC first and use as a springboard for a year..... that's what i'm doing (10 months in now)..... applied to 1st after 5 and they say no. So in December I can reapply and will have a year of HSBC behind me by then. ;)
