    Help!

With regards to the DTD instore, today I brought some mens socks and brief set marked from £10 to £1.25, I got three lots as loads cheaper then buying the multipacks

2 went through fine but the third came up as footwear and cost £15. I kept stum and went to CS to claim my double the difference but they refused even after 20 mins.

They said DTD is for overcharging, which I hadn't been, it was just a system error on the specific till as on CS went through at £1.25 but when they checked the till I'd used, scanned as £15.

I quoted their dtd and said I had clearly been overcharged. They wouldn't budge. Because the receipt said a different product, it didn't count it was a system error not manual, ie wrong ticket not being changed. I did put my foot down and said either way it was an overcharge but was asked nicely to leave!

Is it worth a call to HO and does anyone know the freephone number at all? Or should I leave it?
    Thanks

I would definately push on that one. It's not your fault that it was going through wrongly. The other day I had some reduced flowers and was putting them through the self serve and they kept erroring and needing assistance. It was because on the screen they were coming up as a pineapple and obviously a pineapple weighs more than flowers. Definately complain, If it was me I would.

Thanks, called CS and the guy was very helpful, couldn't believe they tried to worm out of it. He called the store and told them to refund me, I did mention the petrol money which needs to be taken into account too for a journey out of my way of 28 miles which they should also compensate for ESP as they had ample opp to sort before! Bingo, what a cheap pair of undies and socks. £27.50, it's a record for me! When I go collect my money, I think I'll ask for a job application form too just for a laugh if I can keep a straight face!
Please don't judge me. you couldn't handle half of what I've been through.

Freephone numbers aren't free from mobiles though so be careful. Is there a standard landline number by any chance?

    EDIT: I got this number from saynoto0870 - 01382 822700

The idea is to smile graciously and say 'I have your HO Freephone no. here, so let's ring them.'
A refusal at this point is further ammunition for the well-worded email back at home.

Well, I trotted off to tesco to get my dtd refund for my socks saga yesterday, only to be told I had to wait until the matter was fully investigated. OK, I can wait, and tootled off without causing any sort of scene.

Just got a call from the store deputy manager ( it was an answer phone message) saying that on this occasion the dtd will be honoured by the store even though they don't know why it happened and they aren't happy with it, and when I go for the refund I should take my CC so they can start tracking my usage!!!!

Well, I'm not overly happy about that statement, and have it saved on my phone. I called Cs back and said how unhappy I was and that I felt like I was being singled out. A trouble maker (moi?) I told him that it was their policy and the store were being funny about it. I sense a major argument if I discuss it with the store so asked them to get to the bottom of it.

I could easily go in and hand over my club card then not use that one again as I have several unlinked. I am however, unhappy at the way I am being treated by them and that have openly said they are going to spy on my shopping!

Am I being over sensitive? A what would you do?

May not have helped that whilst I was hanging around waiting, I scanned a few items on the price checker, found a Gordon Ramsey dinner set marked at £25, scanning at £50, paid for it then got DTD!!! FREE!!

Good job there is another big tesco not far me thinks!

I think you did the right thing, make sure they get back to you, I would only be happy with a gift card from HO with dtd amount or an apology from store and dtd from store.

If they can't honour the policy they shouldn't have it.

And great dtd on the dinner service.

If I didn't have to go back in for my refund I'd never have found it! Irony!!
