I kind of figured that scam out ages ago, albeit by accident. I used £4 worth of Luncheon Vouchers and when I checked my receipt it didn't add up. When I looked at it more closely it dawned on me what I had done. I had scanned a £1 coupon but put a 50p coupon in the slot.0 -
Hope no one gets any ideas though. Honesty is ALWAYS the best policy. It'll get you into trouble. Tesco are prepared for such potential scammers with cameras a plenty in the store. Especially in the self scan area.:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A

As it says in the article....
"Astonishingly, during the trial Tesco admitted it had known about the loophole for some time but had not introduced measures to stop it.
Operations manager Kay Clements said: "We have calculated the loss and it is not enough to warrant the investment of putting [an electronic] reader in every machine." "0 -
So while we're talking about clubcard points etc, can someone explain why they scribble through the barcode of a redeemed CC point receipt? Twice recently there have been receipts that have been added to my CC but the SA hasn't signed/scribbled/defaced the receipt. I'm not suggesting I would but can their systems check if the points from a receipt have been added?
I know one of the receipts for which this was done but in all honesty, the 2nd receipt was in with a bunch of other receipts so I really don't know which one was redeemed. I don't want to have my account suspended for double redeeming but at the same time, I don't want to lose a couple of quid in points by ditching all the receipts I have remaining. I know I could ask someone on CS but I don't want them to think I'm trying to cheat and knowing how many troutish CS people there are, the less ammo they have the better!0 -

I've claimed points on the same receipt multiple times although I've noticed recently that CS are on the ball now more so than ever. Rarely do I get a receipt handed back to me where the barcode hasn't been defaced.0 -
The tesco that told me that they were checking was one I very rarley go to.. and I dont get points added to my account much .. just maybe 1 or 2 receipts a month..0

I kinda agree with you. I put the link on as there was a discussion about Tesco suspending or cancelling cc accounts. The link shows that they do (or did) have a system in place for flagging accounts which have accumulated massive points in a short space of time.
I am concerned as I have been successfully wombling and added unclaimed points recently so my cc account has risen gloriously from the ashes as I had pretty much given up on the scheme after the changes were made to their value, etc. I have never used the same receipt twice and always ask them to pop them in their bin after they have been added though.:A Every moment is a gift. Oh but if they are not marking the receipts that the cc points have already been added on then how do we know a wombled receipt has not already been 'used'??0
