As I was putting my PIN in I asked as casually as I could whether they were still doing double the difference. She was no longer as friendly as she had been but told me to pop my card in again for another £4.50 refund.

I have encountered this too. It is amazing how they "suddenly" recall a core policy of their day-to-day job when politely prompted. I strongly suspect they are trained to only give the single difference on misprices, and only to give DTD when the customer asks for it. Pretty sneaky... just makes me want to go out and buy some more sweet chilli peanuts ;)

I don't think they are trained not to offer DTD, if you get a newly trained they always go out of their way to explain DTD. I honestly believe it goes to their head and they start to see customers who have been overcharged as the enemy. Usually when a dept head or store manager is called they make them give DTD - the exception is if you are well known from r&r days then they all probably know you and none of them will be particularly nice to you.

Hi All - I don't post very often - Too busy lurking in Mr T's to get much written down sorry! Anyhow just to let you know there are still loads of the Hello Kitty roller Skates in the SOT area - especially the new one - a huge stack of them in fact - sticker in Pink - blends in nicely with the packaging so not obvious at the Till - states save a third now £8.66 - they go through at £13 - DTD works out at £8.66 so skates for £4.33 - great prezzy idea for litle ones. I bought some the other day from another store for my niece so don't need any so feel free to fill yer boots! Or skates??

Tesco staff was telling me that they are now checking for those who frequently add points to their account and will be cancelling those accounts... so she told me when I went to have my points added on..

How do they define frequent? I've had to get a brand new account (marital issues) and have been regularly adding on receipts for the last few weeks. I'd kept them as I was unsure whether I'd be using the husbands account or starting my own. I'd go spare if they cancelled my account now after all the hassle I've gone to to get the points added. I womble the odd receipt but wouldn't bother with the cc points unless it's substantial and a cash transaction as well.

If an account is cancelled, surely one would just get another?

My boys laugh if I stop to pick up a 1p in the street.... and there's no way I'd let a receipt with even 10 points, remain unused. If someone wants to throw away 10p, and I find it, then I'll use it.
