Off to get the sticky...................Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 29th April. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning. Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!

Had a really early night so am up bright and early this morning. Just about to put some washing on as I believe that its meant to stay dry today :j. Have about 5 things to iron from yesterday so will also get that done this morning.

I the office this morning and also have tescos del between 9 & 11. Have some more sausagemeat coming so will be making more sausage rolls this weekend - think I am obsessed with them :rotfl:

Sold 3 things on ebay, 1 is sent, 1 to be posted today and 1 I am waiting payment for - it has given me the incentive I need and I hopefully will be listing a minumum of 5 things later today.

Think I need to go and get some potatoes from the farm shop today, just hope its open as its wednesday - corned beef hash for tea, havnt had it for years and OH has never had it, hopefully he will like it & thats another cheap meal to add to our meal planner.

This afternoon will go through more of India Knights thrift book marking down interesting websites - there are so many in there its taking a while. Will also try and get out for a decent walk - getting into an exercise regime is proving very hard for me.

Anyway, far too much waffle so I am off now, have a great day.

    Morning Essex Girl.

Nice and sunny here with the prospect for a warm day. I have to work followed by a governors meeting at school after, so a long day.

Really must get some plants potted on and grass cut later as well as applications put in for the OH jobs she is applying for. Lethargy sets in though.
Looking forward to the weekend off... Have a nice day

    Morning,

I seem to have really bad HayFever at the moment (no, its not swine flu). Eyes stinging and watering all the time :(

Hopefully someone will have some idea of what works? Ive tried antihistamines(sp), honey even had the nasal spray from the docs. Nothing seems to work, so would love some ideas please :D:D:D

Anyway, making Iranian for tea tonight, putting it in the SLow Cooker when I get in from work. Yum yum (I luuuurve my slow cooker, would be lost without it)

Hope everyone has a nice day

    X :D X

    Morning Essex-Girl, N9eav and GonzoAston:wave:

Lots of ironing to do today and decluttering to make up for the 4 camping items that arrived yesterday.

Will be making chocolate rice krispie cakes as I have some leftovers in the cupboards that need using and a spag bol for dinner.

Budget going according to plan so far this week, will need to buy milk and bread today though, trying to spend as little out of the £22.51 I have left from budget! This may take further planning to ensure I maximise use of remaining budget.

    Have a good day everyone...

    Hello everybody,

I've been a busy little bee today unlike some people I could mention. :D I can actually see out of all my windows now :o and the bathroom is sparkling. Tidied up the loft and thought of Granny. Has anyone seen her around the site lately? Made my menu & shopping list as I plan to shop tomorrow. I'll take DGS with me in the arv.

DS2 is arriving again on Saturday night. He'll be staying the week, hence the shop tomorrow. DD arriving Friday night and staying until Tuesday. It's a public holiday here Monday. Leftovers tonight for tea & I'm cooking up some Bok Choy with it. Guess whose got lots of it in the veggie garden. ;)

Gonzo No idea really. You could try vinegar & stardrops. :D

Hope you all have a happy day & <hugs> to those not well. Byeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

Morning all, and welcome to Gonzo

Nice day again today, shame I am off to work , washing basket is just about empty, and house reasonably clean and tidy, so not a lot of os today.

I made a chilli yesterday for tonights tea, it tastes stronger if allowed to sit, so just rice to cook tonight.

Marie, my corgette seeds have not sprouted yet, I may have to go and buy some if they dont , maybe they were an old batch.

Happy Birthday to Moggins :bdaycake:I hope you are ok and have a great day xx

Katie, I shall be watching out for you on the apprentice ;) xx

    Have good days all xx

    Good morning :j

I'm up & about chatting to DS2 who for some reason was fully dressed when I got down at 6.15. He said he woke at 5, read for a bit then got up & dressed as he was cold :p

I'm pegging out today as the forecast is for no rain :T The garden has appreciated the wet though & is looking all new & shiny IYSWIM? Sweet & sour chicken with rice for dinner this evening which should go down well with everyone.

I'm shopping this morning - my last shop of the April budget - and seeing my friend for a coffee this afternoon, her work prevailing. She is a self employed dog groomer and often gets last minute clients.

(((((((((((hugs))))))))))))) if you need one & I'll catch up later on xx

    Morning all, :hello:

I haven't been on here for nearly a week due to having my DB2 stay for 4 days :D. I made sure everything was perfect for him, his Lady friend and several members of the family who came to see him.
I have cooked so much, I wont bore you with the meals plans but surfice to say that the bread maker has worked overtime, soup flowed and 3 course dinners. Cakes, pies, quiches, veggie dishes and puds all HM.
DB2 went home on Monday p.m. so bedding washing was done y/day and line dried. The ironing pile should have a flight path warning light on it.

Spent many happy hours chating with DB2 until the wee small hours, we didn't get to bed until 4am most nights, remmonised and put the world to rights. No mention of the big "C" as I wanted him to be able to put it to the back of his mind for a few days.

Our DNephew, wife & 2 of their children came to visit DB2, they hadn't seen each other for 20yrs due to a falling out. DB2 has realised that life is too short to carry grudges for so long. It was a very emotional time.

Plans for today, ironing, vacume, make up spare beds, deceide what to do for dinner, have DGD2 this afternoon and online shop for DD1's b/day pressies for Sunday, banking and sort out bills. Phew! must get on after I have caught up with the last 6 days thread.
As I am way behind on here I'll send ((hugs)) and congrats to all and a big welcome to any newbies.

    MOGGINS, Happy Birthday _party_

Ooh another audio book fan :) I love them, where do you get yours from Christabell and what kind do you like ? any recommendations?

    Quiet day today.

The kids have just had beans on wholemeal toast plus fruit (hope they're not having too much fibre in their diet!). I had kipper pate on wholemeal plus apple.

They have granary baguettes (not hm) with ham and tomatoes, carrot sticks, more fruit and a muffin for their lunches.

I have to take dd swimming at 5pm so tea will be easy- smoked mackerel, salad and baked potatoes. yogurt and honey for those who want it.

After I've dropped dd off at school I shall walk to the clinic and pick up her prescription for epipens (they need renewing every year). The weather looks Ok at the moment-hope it lasts so I can use my new rotary dryer:D

    Might make some rolls later.

    Have a good one everybody;)

Katie1980 Just caught up on yesterday's post and wanted to say that your scar will probably take a couple of years to settle down & fade so it is not noticeable.

I speak from experience - 6 years ago next week, me & OH were on our way home from him meeting 2 of my brothers (he was then my new chap!) and we were messing about and I ended up pavement surfing face first. I had a 3" gouge in my forehead just above my right eye, another 3" gouge on my right cheek, a 5" scrape on my jaw and chin and scraped the end of my nose. My hands were fine - as OH told my kids, "your mum used her face to save her hands"! :rotfl: OH then spent an hour cleaning my wounds & picking gravel out with tweezers, when I went to my GP next day for a tetanus & redressing they commented on the cleanliness, but advised that I had an x-ray. That showed that I had cracked my cheekbone. The "best" thing about all that is that I then took him to meet my mum for the first time - wearing several industrial dressings & a baseball cap :o:rotfl:

Anyway, rambling over - just to say that my scar is hardly visible now after 6 years and I am left with a "groove" above my eybrow. People who didn't know me then don't notice it at all. I used to wear my hair different while it was still red & angry, and it used to flare up every now & again, but your scar will fade and settle in time.

    :grouphug:
