Car Scrappage Scheme

Question for my DD, hope someone can help please. DD and her OH spent the day going round garages. As instructed by me they asked each salesperson for the total amount payable as they need finance. Well unsurprisingly the total amount after the scrappage scheme is coming out the same if not more than if they had gone in before and done it on 0%. Are there any dealers that are offering the scheme and a decent finance package. Thanks.
Vauxhall claim to be doing their 0% as well as the scrappage scheme but I would look very carefully at their list prices. All list prices seem to have "firmed up" in the last 3 or 4 weeks or so.it's almost like the motor trade saw this coming.:rolleyes:0 -
Last year DD bought peugeot 107 for £6150 on the road, now with the wonderful new scrappage scheme the price for the same car is £5950, a whole £200.00 Don't think I'll be joining the "rush"Same price applies for the citroen C1.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Peter, I think youll find its actually £4950 now.?
They are given £1k off anyway then the £2k scrappage.
Ive been looking at the 207 where they have offered us £3300 off including scrappage (and still negotiatingon options)

Depends what you mean by a decent finance package. Generally you can't get big discounts and cheaper than normal finance.0

I guess I could twist arms locally if I was going to get one right now.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
Well i have sucummed to the scrappage scheme as I needed to upgrade my old run about to a new family car, we have bought a Ford Fusion Style and have ended up paying £7,400 for it, which I am Happy with, However we picked the car two weeks ago, it was on the forcourt, ready to go. I paid for it in full a week ago and am STILL waiting to pick it up. Due to Ford umming and arghing - I am so frustrated! I just want my car. You think that the companys involved would have sorted this all out before the whole thing went live!! My Dealer is being very unhelpful (maybe something to do with the fact that the money is in his pocket now - lesson learnt!) and every time I ring he says as soon as I know something - you will know - Arrrgh anyone else going through this with me!0

Kirsten..the scheme only started in the UK 2 days ago...so why did you pay for it a week ago..there was no need to..you could have held your money in your own account longer. Would have made more sense to start shopping this week once the scehem was up and running, surely- rather than get frustrated that your dealer can't do something before the scheme has been started and he has claiming processes in place to get his money back himself for the scheme.
The dealers could not start processing invoices until this week at the earliest. He's possibly not been unhelpful..more helpless - until the govt dept involved has been able to iron our process for dealers.
The press coverage of why invoice processes have been delayed this week has explained that it is the govt's process changes incurred only last Thursday that have caused the problem, not Ford or any other manuf'r.
I don't understand how you've paid for it a week before the dealers have had a process in place to make invoices out properly? Did you pay without having an invoice for some reason?“Official Company Representative

I'm in the same situation with a Hyundai dealer (i20) and that I have only pad £500 deposit.
They just keep telling me that they will tell me when something changes and that they are waiting to find out the next step for them.
It is so annoying, my new car is at their dealership and my current car is on its very last legs. I just hope I can still use it on the scheme if it breaks completely. I'll be getting the AA to tow me there if it does break down.0 -
thought I heard on the news last night that the Ford issue was solved0
