You are all taking these delivery dates as gospel. I imagine if you haven't pre-ordered on some of these cars it could be months before you take delivery. Leave it a day and their could be a few hundred more in front of you.

Think this could all get a bit messy.

i think you might be right.
maybe this apparent high amount of interest in these cars could all be a bit self generated, trying to drum up buisness by having too much demand and too short supply.

the scrap yards will be a wash with 7 year old kia picantos and hyundai i 10s in 7 years time by the look of things on here at the moment.

Well I'm poor and cannot afford a new car. Besides I have an N registered Rover 100 hahahaha you might all say but it has 17,000 genuine miles on the clock full service history and runs as good as any new car. Also the parts are much cheaper should it need any in the near future. Theres no way I'm scrapping my trusty steed and have you seen the price of bus fares and other forms of transport. My Rover is almost as cheap to run as my old cinquecento that only died on me cos of all the rotten speed bumps.

At 17k miles on the clock I think you'd be nuts to replace it unless it's got a bad case of the orange tin worm.

The average age of a scrap car is 13-14 years, so why would these cars be scrap in 7? I've never known a 7 year old car that's not accident damaged to be scrapped.
    Next year we'll be millionaires!

Did you have an joy haggling or is it pretty standard that it's the list price minus the £2000?

I didn't have any joy haggling but then I am not known for being very good at negotiating on prices. At the bottom end of the ranges there doesn't seem much room for negotiation other than £2K off list prices, but others may have had more joy. I think the demand for scrappage scheme at the low end of the market is pretty strong and there may well be a wait list for cars - when we were in the Kia garage we had to wait an hour to see a sales person because there were several people waiting to talk about scrappage deals. The so called down turn in the car market isn't very obvious round here at the moment!

I am trying to get hold of an I10 comfort. The classic is to basic. no intermetant wipers no proper central locking, non colour coded trims etc.

But there are no comforts in grey or black to be bought.....

Just to reiterate that if a Marque subscribes to the scheme they have to go in with ALL their models, so in case of Fiat 500 since Fiat is partecipating, also this model will be discounted of a minimum of £2000.
I just ordered mine in fact...

Fiat have been very actively advertising (TV and web) the Panda 1.1 Eco for £4995 including the scrappage discount.
However, this car was being advertised from various sources for around £5400 before the scrappage incentive was introduced - so who is benefitting from this scheme? The manufacturers obviously...
Saying that, Fiat will need all the cash they can get if they intend to take over the world of car production!.

Fiat were already doing their own scrappage scheme before the Govt one, and they are putting £1100 into the pot for this one. In effect what is happening is the manufacturers are getting a sub from the Govt to pay back what they were discounting anyway.

Yes in fact the real saving is on models which were not discounted at all before as the Fiat 500 because the manufacturers to participate thay have to discount all the models even the ones they usually are not willing to....
