Hello all
Been MIA whilst moving house, but we're in now and fairly settled....still no internet connection though (why do these things take so long!!) So currently typing from a friends houseThe new house is fab, my new cooker is even fabber (yes that is a word) and I now feel I've sussed it out enough to start baking (gone from a tiny electric oven to a huge range style gas multi oven/7 burner thing) The proof will be in the eating this evening!
Have been very OS with cleaning when we moved in, the previous people had a long haired dog and the house had been shut up for nearly 2 months...you can imagine the smell and the amount of dog hair I got out of the carpets....all smell fresh and look fab now though.
Have hacked back everything in the garden in an attempt to see what's what and have cleared all the beds ready for veg....we have a gorgeous fox with cubs that sits and watches me over the fence, I think the neighbours think I'm slightly mad chatting away to a fox
Hope you're all well and happy and I'll get to catch up properly next week hopefully.

:hello:Morning all!
Feeling a little better today, so should at least be able to get some washing done even if it can't be hung outside.
Last night's dinner was HM chilli from the freezer -thank goodness for cooking double and freezing halfI think that was the most "cooking" I've managed to do since we got back from Germany. The day after we got back I couldn't cook and DH felt he wasn't up to it either, so he went to the chippy. The next day i managed to do pasta with sauce from a jar, so that was sort of one step up as it were.
Thanks for all your good wishes while i've been feeling rough, it really helped to know I was being thought of :A
Hilstep - What a lovely surprise!
Katie :T:beer:
icecubequeen and SALOPMAN - Hope you have lovely hols!
tiredmum - Hope you enjoyed Lakeside! We were over there for lunch a few weeks ago with DD1 and DSIL. There used to be a bus from here to Lakeside, but now if you need to go by bus you have to get a bus from here to Bluewater and then another one to Lakeside, how daft is that!
I saw something on TV last night about how many pets are being abandoned due to the credit crunch. It must have been because of that, that I dreamed I took on a rescued dog, having never had a dog before, and it was one of those black ones with a long corded coat (Can't remember what breed they are) and I didn't know how to groom him so he was getting into a terrible state as I tried to undo all the tangles - I was glad to wake up
Need to get a few bits of shopping today, but DH wasn't too well y'day - seemed to be starting a cold - so will see how he is when he wakes up.
Welcome to the new posters and welcome back to returning ones (Jamiedodger - I think you used to post on the Daily ages ago? and frugalswan and scuzz - nice to "see" you all again :hello:)
Pooky - just seen your post - Glad the move went okay - don't envy you all that cleaning though! The cooker sounds wonderful.
((((HUGS))) to all who are ill or unhappy atm.
Hope everyone has as good a day as possible.

It poured with rain all day yesterday so have put most of the damp washing outside on the line with my fingers crossed that it will actually get dry.
Soaked some dried peas and if they are all right later this afternoon might make DH's favourite pea soup.
Have some cooked potatoes in the fridge so might add some of them to the soup and then make a frittata tonight for anyone turning their nose up at my soup.
DD(23) is coming home for the weekend :j so told her to let me know what meals she particularly misses and I'll make them for her.
DH drove me to get a few more canned and dried goods, bread flour and long life milk last night and I have an order at Approved Food still to be delivered so we should be well stocked up.
Happy birthday (belated) to hilstep2000 :bdaycake:
Very gentle hug to pennyPincher and anyone else who could do with one.
See you all later."This site is addictive!"

Donny - bet DH cant wait for his birthday!;):o:DCan he wait that long
:D
What do you think:rolleyes:;):D!!
Thanks Katie will have a look at that.
I've managed to get a load of washing on - it will have to go on the dryer in the conservatory as we need to leave here by 1pm I think.
DH emptying car:rolleyes:! It is a new car we are getting but we have got 1/3rd of the RRP off it which is why we are having to move at the speed of light. Has to be registered this month. The one being traded in is over 10 years old and we have had it from new, with the difference in car prices over that period we are paying less for the new one, which is a bigger higher spec. one to tow the caravan, that we did for that over 10 years ago. Cannot get the scrap allowance this month, but save more than that on the discounted price, and we get trade in (but not a lot). He has to like it as no chance of swopping, ski-ed out for now.

Morning all....................((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))) if you need one.
II was up by 8am this morning, BT were coming to connect our phone, chap arrived just abfore 8.30, so now I can retire my mobile to its former function.
I went down to Aldi and bought 6 loaves of bread, we needed to put 'something' in the garage freezer, have filled the rest with newspaper.
OH starts his treatment today I hope!!! at present he is in bed with a dizzy, lets hope its just the one today!!!! and he is fit to go when the transport comes..........so frustrating, he has been fine the last few days again.
Cold start to the morning, I have had to put the heat on again, its switched off now and the sun looks as though it is trying to break through.
I am even more concerned about DD and her family, the couple in Scotland who have been confirmed as having swine flu, were staying in Cancun which is where they are............I have sent them a text message, just hope one or all of them have their mobiles with them. I am really afarid of what effect it could have on someone like my OH..........they are syaing that teenagers and young adults are being affetced the worst, but we know people tell lies especially when there are vast amounts of money involved.......and Mexico is a very poor Country.
Sausage and mash for supper tonight, might do a bit of gardening, see how I feel after I have had a cuppa................Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
Morning all!
Just a quick one as I have loads to do before the funeral tomorrow. Just had the shock of my life again and wanted to give you all a little warning. Sadly just had to send an email to MSE re the forums. For the second time now despite being careful not to post anything that could ID me, I have recieved email at my personal private email,(NOT a pm) for a company I had minor grievances with. I don't know how they are doing this and fidning out my personal email (and quite frankly I am gobsmacked at what this makes me think of MSE now) but folks do be careful when posting any gripes as it seems somehow you can be identified by the company. What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0 -
PenPin - hugs and I hope you feel better soon
Katie - you are so brave.
Donny-gal - new car :j:j:j:j:j
Csarina - your family are in my prayers.
Washing machine man has just come. I am trying to work out how to tell dear heart that the washing machine didn't empty because he forgot to remove a stop over the end of one of the pipes on the ubend. I told the washing machine man that I had a go at it - which made him compliment me on my initiative - and he had a good play with little bear while I tried to find the cheque book because I didn't have £20 in the house. I feel very unworthy of the compliments but it spared dear heart's blushes.
Taplady - sorry you had to go to Dracula's daughters. Hopefully they will have enough to have an idea.
Tea tonight is vegetable stir fry, main task today is washing.
Hugs to all.
Edited to add - Reverbe, thanks for the heads up, it is so scary!Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0
