Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 28th April. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning. Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!

Morning, Wet start to the day. Time for some more sunshine I think. Thankfully I don't have pig flu this morning only a cold.
Training day all day, first aid and stuff, can't say I am over excited about it, but it has to be done. Bring your own lunch again, as the job is too tight to provide any.
Did a huge shop last night. Always a struggle to find decent prices. Despite what is suggested food prices are rising. Pasta sauces, meat and tune and other general things were up again.
There are a few treats about. ASDA are doing Aero hot choc mix for £1. Drink squash 55p and fresh chickens 2 for £6. I bought several and will chop them up for breast meat and the legs and thighs for other stuff. Cheaper that way.
Well time to get the chores done.
I have about 28 eggs which I hope will hatch in the next few days. Better success I hope?
We also had a family record for a hens egg 121g or 4.3oz Ouch! Can't wait to eat it though. 2 or 3 yolks!
:footie:Plymouth are safe thanks to Norwich losing:j
NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!

Morning N9eav, and all to follow.

Little bit of sunshine showing at the moment but I believe rain is forcast all week. Will still try and get some washing line dried today.

Bit of everything day today, paperwork and housework but no ironing :jthe basket is still empty.

Have a business meeting at 12 then later will be popping to the library which is conveniently near the bank where I need to pay a cheque in. Also need some fruit and there is a greengrocers there - DS is on a healthly eating regime and the fruit basket needs restocking every 2 days but obviously I cant complain.

Leftover pork and gravy from the freezer for dinner tonight, pasta for the kids.

    Have a great day.x

    morning all:)

More baking planned for today. Have to stay in to wait for a delivery anyway so I might as well make good use of the time!

Roast for dinner tonight, will cook the chicken this morning while I have the oven on for baking and do rest in the remy tonight.

Have started on budget for May as dont want to fall into the trap of running out of money at the end of the month again! Planning to use up as much as possible of stocks I have in and make May a challenge month. Dont want to spend over £200 for all in food, cleaning, toiletries and pet.

    Have a good day everyone!

    Morning all,

Thanks to Floss and Haribo, for the recipe suggestions, they sound delish, try them both I think :T

Looks like it might be a nice day, but they have told us to expect showers, yesterday it rained non stop all day, hopefully today will be better.

Need to have a quick tidy round, I have some paperwork to do, I need to prep the dinner for tonight, ribs, sauce and rice, and make a chilli for tomorrows dinner, and then I want to get in the garden, a lot of my seedlings are ready to go out :T, I have got the slug problem sorted ( copper tape everywhere :D), my problem in the squirrel , he keeps digging everything up to bury his nuts
I used to think he was quite sweet, but I am starting to have dark thoughts now :o, I would not hurt him really but  he makes me mad.

My dd woke me in the night talking to herself in her sleep, she was reciting (sp) her colours, ( she is 14 :D), she used to do this years ago, and I have often had a conversation with her, whilst she is asleep

Ok have good days all xx

    Morning everyone,

Gorgeous weather here atm. Wish it was like this all year round. Warm & sunny. Continuing on with my spring cleaning although it's autumn. I did some poisoning in the yard too. I was going to whipper snip (strimmer) but it's in the shed and I'm not going in there while the snake is still in there. DH not home from work yet and I'm already too lazy to do that job. Will get him to take it out for tomorrow.

I'm going to start walking again. Been really lazy over summer. *Too hot* was the excuse. :D Won twice at Bingo last night & the raffle. I'll give my prize to DD as I've already got a coffee plunger. DGS arriving back tomorrow night and I have him Thursday. <hugs> to those not well. Have a lovely day. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

    Good morning everyone.

Cool & wet here again. I've made sure that the children all have waterproof coats ready to put on ;) Only DS2 and I up at the moment I shall start the waking up of the others soon. I've just spoken to DH he'll be home by 8am and sounds ready for bed.

Not much on today just the usual cleaning, tidying, ironing & washing. A couple of the lettuce seedlings have started to poke through :T so I am also on slug duty :rotfl:

Spicy lentil soup for lunch today and twice baked potatoes & beans for tea tonight.

(((((((((hugs))))))))) to all who need one & enjoy your days.

    Morning All

Better post now as doubt will have time later. Car decided on, then had nice meal and meet up with friends we made while caravanning in France 8 years ago. They are in Preston so a fair journey to meet up, and this way we avoided the rush hour traffic on the M62.

Told DH that is his birthday present (he will be 60 in August), any other may be "A la Hester".

Today is to organise and then a trip to Cheltenham & back to swop cars with DS. Need to time our journey to avoid peak times on M42/M6 and meet up with DS after he finished work. See if we can find a reasonable carvery near him.

We have to be back for 9pm and The Apprentice

OS - errrr - if I find the chance.

(((Hugs))) :grouphug: , Welcome :hello:, Hi There  as wanted/needed.

    Morning All!
Having trouble moving today as I'm so stiff:rotfl:and the reason I'm stiff?
Well.......on Saturday night my gorgeous DD and DS had a surprise 50th Birthday party for me!:T I thought I was going out with them and OH for dinner as it was her fiance's birthday yesterday. Met them at the hospital social club, and when I walked in..........all my friends and family there:eek: I danced all night, so I'm suffering today, but I don't care:rotfl:OH made me get dressed up, despite me saying, "This is too dressy for a pub!" :rotfl:
I have wonderful children, must have done something right after all!:T

Taking it easy today. DS has just emerged to go to college. Going to see a friend later.

((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))) to those that need them.
    Have a great day!
