Your list looks pretty comprehensive. You could add some dry-cleaning (if actually needed).

MOT at £20 per month won't be allowed (it costs £50 per year, doesn't it?)

Car Maint at £20 looks perhaps a little low - I assume you're running a scrapper (like most of us on here) so £20pm looks low - I claimed for and was allowed £60 per month (I produced receipts to show actual spending).

Do post and let us know what was allowed and disallowed because there are a few folks on here (myself included) currently disputing the OR's IPA figures.

    Thanks Stuntman,
Yeah I only have a R reg ford mondeo worth about £500, I didn't think about that with the MOT and I know I need 2 new Tyres so they are not cheap;)

  • Thanks BAAB,

You have been really helpful I will have to "bite the bullet" and give them a call to see what was taken into account as income and what was allowed on my SOA:confused:

    ROML

Ask them to send you the actual breakdown that they have allowed so you have it in front of you and whether they have included CHB and your son's DLA.

I am assuming looking at you SOA that you are 2 adults and 3 children, if so then it looks a pretty fair SOA to me.

    Hiya

If you don't really want to speak to them, you might consider sending a email to the office. If they reply in writing it is sometimes easier to absorb the information they are relaying to you, without having to instantly answer as you would on the phone. You can post any queries on here first to so you got the best backup information if there is anything you want or need to change with regard to the Ipa.

Hi, just answered your PM, thanks for getting back to me.

You must get in touch with them, most people on here were fairly certain that the DLA belongs to the child if it is awarded to a child. When I queried this a while ago, Debtdoctor (who works for CAB I think) asked me to PM him if they would take my son's DLA into account for an IPA. Maybe he could give you advise?
I hope you can sort it out, it really does sound as if a mistake has happened...
    Good luck! x

    Thanks Jen,

I just sent them an Email as I called earlier and my OR was not there and nobody else could help.

Its 2 Adults and 2 Children so based on that do you think the IPA is right?

  • Well then your groceries will have been cut down to about £450/£500 I would guess. Clothing probably down to £130ish. Possibly school dinners and activies as well.

This is only conjecture on what we have seen allowed before. How old are your children? Are they both at school? If one is at Childminders why are you claiming school dinners?

We were allowed £600 for 2adults and four kids towards groceries. Without knowing what the OR has cut down/allowed we are just guesstimating. I would say that £60 for kids activites is high, we were told £5 per child per month.

  • Jenni we usually suggest £5 per child per week on here for activities.
