Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Monday 27th April. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning. Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!

Morning All :hello:

Another coffee christabel - I haven't got my first yet:eek:
Don't ask why I am up at this silly hour, didn't go to be until midnight and awake by 4:mad: don't feel tired (yet!!)

Probably a non-OS day for us, I think we are car hunting, decided to try a swop with DS buying our car from us, us getting our old car back from him and trading it in under the scrapping scheme, and us looking at a new one. Looking at what we want to get at one of the on line discount prices, and get a test drive, we have to venture into darkest Lancashire :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:. We have some friends at Preston so contacted them as we have not seen them for over a year, and we are invited for tea, so expect that will be the extent of the day.

Have a good day all - :grouphug: where needed.
Take care - DG

    Morning all,

I've been away just in case nobody noticed. :rotfl: Had a great time and it was nice to catch up with some old friends. I hadn't been back since we moved which is all of 3 years ago so a few things were a bit different. Today I've caught up with laundry & did some baking. It was ANZAC Day here on Saturday but I was on the bus traveling so made Anzac Slice today instead. I've already had 2 pieces :D and it's delish.

I was doing some yard work after lunch but it was too hot. Real touch of summer today. Having spinach frittata for tea tonight as I have quite a few eggs to use & heaps of spinach. Ice-cream & fruit for dessert. Off to Bingo tonight. Hopefully I'll make up for last week's loss. ;) Hope you all have a lovely day whatever your doing. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

What sort? Does it come with fried bacon and eggs?

Very wet and very windy here. Not good now, need sun for garden.
Work this morning and hopefully it will be free on imminent jobs. I have to play catchup from last week first.
Sossies for tea thanks to some reduced quality bangers from Coop, only 50p. Went to get some carrots, but they were all mushy, should never have been on sale. But found some sossies and flowers for the missus at 30p. Peeled the reduced label off.....she will never know :rotfl:
NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!

 N9eav I'm sure you'd be so stingy when a fly lands in the sugar you shakes its feet before you kill it. :D

  • Morning Guys!

    Hope everyone is well.

I'm at the hospital today and have to be there for 8am:eek:...which is a nightmare with the London traffic at that time in the morning. Have to have 2 infusions...so what a lovely day for me!

DW has been emptied and WM on etc.

Having lamb meatballs later that OH got reduced. How does he cook them? I was thinking SC in pasta sauce for a couple of hours:confused:

JackieO-Glad you had a lovely holiday.

    Take care everyone.

Wet wet day here in bognor regis. Made a huge muck up with a direct debit that shouldnt have gone out of my account this morning, council tax for over £100 arghh. this means a long wait while I wait for them to re credit me!! which in turn means a very skint week.

will be taking stock of cupboards, fridge and freezer this morning, when kids have gone to school, a huge change in the meal plan for this week and a very frugal food shop!! Its times like this where Im glad ive been on MSE for so long now, tightening the belt comes as second nature:)

I do want to get some baking bits in so I can put with what I already have and make some treats for kiddies lunchboxes etc. I had planned on chilli tonight and I think I can still manage this and only need to buy kidney beans! I have about £40 for groceries including cleaning and toiletries and pet food for the week, I have managed on a lot less before now so hopefully I can do this!!!

Things will pick up from next week. thank goodness! better go make lunchboxes up now....hop everyone has a good day:)

    Morning all,

Not quite so nice here today, a few clouds around, will get some washing done though, will hang it out as its blowy.

Marie the kittens sound delightful, can we see a photo ???

Need to have a good clean through today, hoover and mop floors, change beds, make some cakes or cookies. Roast pork for tea, as we missed our roast yesterday.

And I need to pop to a local discount shop and pick up olive oil and squash. I may get into the garden for an hour, will see what the weather does.

My sister phoned yesterday, and invited us uo to her new house on Sunday for a picnic lunch, they have not moved into the house yet, but are doing it up, but it is in a beautiful setting, they are veggie we are going to base the lunch around asparagus as its that time of year, so any asparagus recipies gretefully recieved.

Ok have good days all xx

    Good Morning

Good Luck at the hospital Christabell & PP.
PP - I brown meatballs in a frying pan then add the sauce for about 20 mins.

Overcast here today but doesnt really matter as I am in the office most of the day, hope it stays dry though as OH is fence staining.

Got all my ironing done yesterday :j which is a good start to the week.

Not too much OS today, will be compiling a shopping list for online shopping later and have free night on the menu planner so will be something easy like egg and chips. Had 2 double yolkers yesterday for the first time in years.

Off now to finish cuppa, (((hugs))) to anyone who needs one.x
