oh victory, i'm getting tired watching ure smileys doing all that exercise...*yawn* think it's an early one for me
Had a pretty good day, had to work late again, so was a sausage roll for brunch (not the best i know), (very lean) bacon omelette for dinner, some fruit and 2 low fat yogurts. I was naughty when i seen my DS come home from the shops with a Wham Bar. Haven't seen those for years, couldn't resist, just a big kid at heart.
On the exercise front, we were short staffed at work, so walked an extra couple of miles today, so much for boss not trusting me to go out alone. I shouldn't have spoke so soonWent for my weigh in, then for sauna and swim, although me and my sis hadn't seen each other for a wee while so we were most of the time in the sauna/jacuzzi. Will do more swimming next week tho. But I hope u notice I didn't cheat and weigh in after the sauna :rotfl:
4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
Victory - we only saw the very end of that programme, where it had a bit where the lady was talking to someone about the effects of her gastric band surgery, and she'd had seizures, which have affected her life, despite losing 10 stone. I will have a look on iplayer to catch up with the rest.
Thanks for the tips. I'm like you, I'd much rather be doing a 'proper' job, earning some money, and feeling like I have a purpose in life (other than being a breeder). Don't get me wrong, I do love being a mum, but I also feel like I got talked into giving up a career I was good at in order to do so, and primarily because my ex felt threatened by my potential and current success back then. That's all a long time ago now. I think part of my lack of enthusiasm, and periods of laziness are down to being bored, and not challenged. I've been considering getting better qualified, but that all costs money, doesn't it?
Scottish Lass - you SO deserve to have got that job with so many jobs applied for. I went for a couple of interviews last year, but I felt I struggled when they started asking me about my 'qualities', or what did I think was the best I had to offer for a job..... erm, erm... I'd told them what I could do, and what I'd done, and fielded their questions about taking charge, etc., so I wasn't sure what they were looking for me to say. Not hearing back after an interview either way is just darn rude, don't you think? I used to work in HR and can't believe how things have changed in that respect.
Well, today food has been so so, but I have exercised plenty, and been out on my bike 3 times. I think in total I'll have cycled at least 6 miles, which is all positive. I really enjoy my cycling, so I think I'll plan some other routes to do, and give them a whirl while the weather is lovely.
I had to go for a mini-medical today when I registered at my new doctors surgery. I've gained 2 inches in height! That's got to have a positive effect on my BMI huh? I don't know where it's come from, but I have always been about 5', and today she even double checked when she saw my amazement, and said I was definitely 5' 2". Wooooo hoooo! I never really grew during senior school, so was always the smallest in my year. It's taken until I'm over 40 and I finally start to grow. Go figure? Otherwise my weight was actually a couple of pound less than my scales at home, so that's fab too, and my blood pressure was spot on at 120/80. Considering I'd just cycled there I was pleased with all that.
I've also taken the plunge and decided to get my hair coloured and cut. I've not had it done since last September, as I can't justify the cost, but it is in dire need of being done. I am trying to sell a load of stuff to pay chunks off some debt I have left over, and thought before I get all the money paid into the bank, I'll have a little bit for me to get myself sorted. I'm feeling better about my body (just about), but my hair is a complete mess. I'm hoping it'll give me a bit of incentive to keep at the weightloss too. Not sure what style to go for now, but know I'll need loads chopping off.
As for books kpc, well I absolutely love books. I'd rather read than have a TV. I also love the Janet Evanovich 'Stephanie Plum series', although I've found some of her other books a bit weak. I absolutely love The Time Travellers Wife by Audrey Niffenegger, and have bought it for friends as gifts. I like factual history books, especially about Elizabeth I. I also enjoyed How to Talk to A Widower by Johnathon Tropper, Caro Fraser's The Pupil (and others in that series, about lawyers in London), and I totally loved The Portable Door by Tom Holt, which is sci-fi, which I don't like usually, but a fabulous story. For classics then you can't go wrong with some Thomas Hardy, or Wilkie Collins' Woman in White, Doris Lessing or George Orwell.
Before I moved in with my BF I used to read a couple of books at a time, one downstairs, and one beside the bed (I often had one in the car too). Now I have him for company, we tend to chat more, but I intend to read lots when we go on holiday, given the chance. I used my public library as a great way to try books out, and not feel guilty if I didn't want to finish reading them, although I generally persevere. My next book is Child 44 by Tom Rob Smith, which I bought for BF & he loved; it's had rave reviews as a modern classic. I like to trawl the charity shops too, and donate loads to them. One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Evening peeps. Had a great time yesterday evening when me and Her Maj joined my family in watching my nephew bugling the Duke of Ed. Balmy summer evening.
Long day at the end of a long week and off to bed. Appetite still slightly dulled so not eating as much as usual (but certainly enough).
Tomorrow we are off to South of England show so will have our usual treat of bacon butty there.
Managed to sell my old bike on ebay for £82 so very happy with that. Still much decluttering and simplyfying work to do but trying to do a little every day.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -

david starkeys book on elizabeth's early years is excellent, sary, and for other books about strong women look for stuff on margaret of anjou and eleanor of aquitaine.
i played out last night! Went out for a work leaving do, stayed out till 0300! Decided to do it MSE and LW style, spent the princely sum of £1.50 on a diet coke and £2 to get into a bar. no booze, no food! woooo. less woo is the fact i'm off to put tents up for an event now. I intend to lie on my sheepskin under my sunhat and snooze most of the day in a very authentic way.
have a lovely day everyone0 -
Hi all, pleased to report a 2lb loss this week so thats my first month of ww and I only lost a total of 6 1/2 lbs while my hubby lost 13 1/2, he is cycling every day though and I haven't been doing any exercise at all...I work 11 hrs a day 5 days a week and to be honest I'm just too knackered!!
I've taken on board the last comment made by the female presenter on the diet show you were all talking about which was that weight loss should be a marathon not a sprint....that's my new motto!
so please press my :T thanks :Tbutton x

Had a very bizarre day yesterday, woke up to find that the room was spinning around and the floor was moving up and down. According to NHS Direct and then later the GP it is labyrinthitis, an inflammation of the inner ear following an ear infection (which I haven't had, as far as I know). Brilliant for losing weight as I couldn't open my eyes nor lift my head from the pillow let alone actually eat or drink. Actually had the Dr out (on NHS Direct's advice) as I couldn't cope with getting up to go to the surgery - first time I've ever done that!
Today is much more like normality, just feel a bit woozy but can walk around. I've cancelled the tighrope walking for the momnet though.
I wondered if anyone else has had this and knows how likely it is to go away entirely for ever - or does it come back?:eek: I do hope not - it was horrid.
(And just before you leap to conclusions - NO alcohol was involved in this!:p)0
