Hello all,
I've been a bit of a busy bee, and forgot to post my STS yesterday, but no worries, I'll remember next week. Well done to Beanie and Scottishlass, and everyone else who posted. The list is definitely shorter than it was at the beginning of the year.
I went shopping yesterday for holiday stuff. I can't tell you how wonderful it feels to be able to say that. My eldest is 17, and it's the 1st time I've ever taken all the boys away for a proper family holiday together. So, I bought them all new swimming trunk shorts and tshirts, and I got me a beach bag, and 2 pairs of 3/4 length shorts which I'm pleased to say fit in a size 14, and a pair of really girly wedge shoes (though anticipate taking a tumble in them if I have to walk very far)! I also ended up buying 5 Xmas presents to stash under the bed. Well, if you see a bargain you have to buy. I bought an aubergine coloured top from Sainsburys today in a size 14 too. My shopping spree was interrupted by the grammar school calling to say they thought my eldest had fractured his ankle. They were in a blind panic when I said I was more than an hour's drive away, and they didn't want my son to move, but he wanted to try to get more comfy. Honestly, the first aider there is useless. We got him home, and he's only got a sprain (to think the school were going to call an ambulance too), and has been to school today.
Last night the BF and I went out to see the Grumpy Old Women live show. It was SO funny, and I'm sure all the ladies on here would have loved it. Jenny Eclair forgot her lines a couple of times, which just made it funnier, and she kept chatting to the audience like we were one of her mates. They were fab, and can recommend anyone to try getting to see them.
Today I had to go up to the local police station to view an ID video, to see if I could pick out a culprit who assaulted a neighbour. I'm not sure I recognised him to be honest. I was amazed at the very poor quality of the pictures they showed me. I cycled there and back, so that's a couple of miles exercise done (into a head wind I might add).
Food has been hit & miss, partly down to me not planning properly, and partly being naughty.
I think I'm eating out of boredom this week, as the weather has been so gloomy and wet that I've been stuck inside more. When I'm outside doing stuff, I don't think to eat. My own worst enemy, and doing housework just doesn't do trick.
BB - I hope you had a lovely day in London, and that the traffic chaos didn't affect you so badly.
Vix - my TOTM still hasn't stopped, and it's been a drudge to get through. I had become quite punctual with mine after stopping the depo jabs, but this past couple or so months I've been disjointed, and instead of starting on a Monday morning, mine started last thing at night, 3 weeks after the previous TOTM (altho that had been over a week late, so it was almost on time by the old calendar dates). I think I'm too young to be starting the 'change', but I have begun to look for the signs. I've started evening primrose oil tablets to help with symptoms, and I do think they have had a positive effect.
The sun is shining here again now, and my flowers are starting to come into bloom, so I am hoping to get back outside again. I've got to organise selling my 2nd car, which isn't getting used now. I do love my little Clio, but it's just sitting there not being used. Lots of jobs like that need to be got on with..... but I'm on here instead! One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Scary: i think this is why women are the superior race cos we have it all to deal with every month! Im never one to try and make worse of a health situation, but since i was 19 my periods are steadily just getting pants and more pants. My work colleague suggested primose malarky, and i have B vitimins at home which apparently help but im god awful at taking tablets that ive taken about two in the last three periods ive had. I like to wait and see...then its too late ha. Although this period has been all about forgetting my tampons, like the other day at work and then today at work also. Thank god im not heavy! ooh and where are you going on hols?
My brother has gone to get his newcastlian girlfriend and her daughter who is staying at my parents for god knows how long. Wish i could get over the fact i dont want to like her because she wants to take my brother up north to live0 -
evening all! i am a bit spooked because I recently decided to reread one of my favourite series of books. OH spotted me with it and asked if it was a memorial reading. Seems I picked up the books on the day he died! probably not spooky, probably heard his name on the radio or something. Quite sad as I always held out hope that there'd be another book in the series so i'm a bit crushed now. If anyone else is a reader, I'm talking about david eddings and the belgariad/mallorean. i've never picked up any of his others - scared that they won't match up. anyone else got favourite books that they like to reread?0

Oh SO many - either because another book has been published and I have to reread the earlier books if it's a series or just because it reminds me how much I enjoy the writer. Lindsey Davis - detective stories set in Rome at the time of Vespasian, novels by Anne Tyler, Angel Carter, Margaret Atwood, Chritopher Brookmyre (but all of these need a few years between rereads), and in dire emergency when uber-stressed, Georgette Heyer becasue it reminds me of being 12 years old again. And a million others.
Diana Wynne Jones --- writes for children but I enjoy them .. Harry Potter-ish but so much better.
If you've never explored https://www.readitswapit.co.uk --- you can swap your books with other people for just the price of posting. Doesn't help to reduce the book mountain in your house though like selling them on Amazon or Green Metropolis would.0 -
Dean Koontz, Stephen King, James Patterson, the list goes on and on. Have such a large book collection but i don't think i would trade any of them in, i read them over n over again, and always seem to find something new each time.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0

The secret diary of adrian mole! I've read the 13 and 3/4 one since i was in year 5 or 6 of primary school, and its grown with me! Back then i didnt get terms such as wet dream ect and then as i re - read i understood more about it. (i was heart broken when i discovered he wasnt real) Trouble is sue townsend has ruined it but not knowing when to stop! The ones when he is older are pants. Or maybe because im not 30 i cant relate to the issues, where as through out my teens i could. Only time will tell.
Otherwise i love louise rennisons books, i have a signed one too. The girl in it reminds me of me.
That J. wilson woman (im ashamed to say this cos i hate overly popular authors like her and harry potter woman) who did mean girls and the fat one...now that i liked cos she was fat and i was too so again i could relate ha.
I didnt like roald dahl books.....only his autobiography one which i would re read.
Sorry im proper going on arent i. I dont even read anymore0 -

Has anyone ever read a book called 'The Wasp Factory'? Gotta be the weirdest book I ever read. Followed closely by 'Perfume', which I tried to read when I was about 14 & gave up at the start really cos it was strange! lol Marian Keyes is good too. & I love Harry Potter & Dr Seuss. I used to know 'Green eggs & ham' off by heart when I was nannying! lol.•
