Not long in from a great day out at the south of england show. Had a lush burger from organic meat supplier but otherwise ate fairly sensibly.
Granny: that sounds awful and I am sure someone on this forum had this last year: it lasted a few days, perhaps 5 days max and then they got completely better. Spinninghead is very very unpleasant:(
Victory - I'm probably too late but i hope you had a great week.
I caught the sun today - my chest is a bit too bright red: unfortunately I had a scoop neck teeshirt on with a large necklace - one of those large round ones, so now have a bright red chest with a large white circle about 3-4 inches across:I'm going to look sooo stupid if I don't wear that necklace for the rest of the week til it calms down:rotfl:.
Saw photos of myself today from a family even a few weeks ago and I was pleasantly suprised - actually thought I looked more than ok which was a nice feeling.
Well done feefeedee - that is a good loss, and men always lose quicker than women - it's something to do with our differnt body designs. Although frustrating if you are trying to lose at the same time as your OH, it is always going to be like that so try not to compete, becasue you have lost practically half a stone and that is brilliant, and of course exercise does make a difference, but you are doing the best you can at the moment an 11hr days sounds alot.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
I am so going to have to get better at posting on here more than once a week - although at least my lack of posting hasn't been linked to a lack of exercise this week or overindulging (give or take a picnic with friends tomorrow!)
Granny hope it doesn't come back sounds horrid.
Congratulations all losers - hope to join you after tomorrow's weigh in.
And on the theme of books I love anything historical fact mostly but good fiction too and I've just started collecting facsimile versions of some of Agatha Christie's books.0 -
Really quick one from me as I have faffed around too much this morning and now I'm going to be late to meet my friends  Anyway pleased to report a 2.5lb loss0

Monthly result (not for chart pls
) = 1lb loss
Delighted with that as I'd gained 4lb the month before so it looks like things may be back under control, fingers crossed!
Although I was aiming for a higher calorie intake this past month, upon reviewing I didn't actually do much different to the previous monthThe calorie intake and exercise effort were about the same:
• Month from 14 May
Avg 1942 cals/day, 44h20m exercise @ 16,846 burn = 1lb loss
• Month from 14 April
Avg 1946 cals/day, 45h11m exercise @ 16,222 burn = 4lb gain
Before April, exercise was about 10 hours per month lower, cal intake was also lower and I had STS (or thereabouts) for 6 months.
So I guess I'll carry on as I have been doing and see what happens this month. I do feel SO much better now that I'm not seeing the weight go up and up each week, that was scary0 -
Granny - I've had labarynthitis, and so has my BF. The last time I had it, my youngest was newborn, maybe 3 weeks old, and I awoke to find the same as you, the room spinning, unable to get off the bed, feeling nauseous. It's really horrid, and I do feel for you. That was also the one and only time I've ever had a GP come out to me, and my lovely GP who died earlier this year came out and was so reassuring. He explained what it was to me, and gave me an injection (in the bum! I pointed out at the time that I felt poorly enough without that as well) to combat the sickness. I think I felt better after a couple of days, and the spinning calmed down fairly quickly. Obviously I was breastfeeding the baby, so I'm not sure if I even had any other medication, but I didn't leave the bed most of that day, and just stayed laying in bed with the baby feeding him as and when he wanted it. DH came up regularly to change his nappy for me and check we were OK, but he had the other 3 boys to care for too, and they were all under 10 then. It hasn't come back, but I do have frequent bouts of dulled hearing, which I think shows I have a certain weakness there. I believe using headphones, especially my phone ones, can make it worse, as I guess they create a bit of a breeding ground and a warm environment for infection. I hope you're feeling much better soon. Take care!
Yesterday was a funny old day for food. I am afraid that the majority of it was spent eating bread. At breakfast we were out of milk, so cereal was out. So it was toast (altho' only 50 cal a slice danish). A friend popped in unexpectedly at lunchtime, so I ended up with a late lunch eaten just before we had to go out, so that was a bread roll with some chicken wings. Tea was late because we'd been out taking the littlest Sarymclary to a party 20 miles away, and then my 2nd eldest called to say he had gone to a BBQ with a friend, but hated it because he was being pressurised to drink & smoke by not only the teenagers there, but the grown ups too! He's only 15 for goodness sake, and he knows I'll ground him for several months if I even smell smoke on him, without him having had any! He was very relieved when I turned up to collect him, but by the time I got home it was about 7pm. Roll and chicken wings for tea as well then!
Today it's nice and dry, so I'll being biking over to a local classic car show to spend the afternoon with a friend, and her children. Her partner has a car in the show, but it's only in a park near the back of their house, so not far for us to escape back to her house for a cuppa!
kpc - thanks for the book recommendations, I'll look into those at the library next time I go.
Well done on the losses guys. Feefeedee, men will always lose weight faster, and in greater amounts than us girls, but they tend to have a greater muscle mass than us girls, which is why they need more calories to burn in the first place. If you can do any kind of exercise that doesn't only fat burn, but can help to build some muscle, then you can create a metabolism that will burn more efficiently, and remember that any exercise you do, your body continues to burn at a higher rate for the next 24 hours. You are working long hours though, but why not try to shoehorn a couple of 30 minute sessions into your week where you can? If you catch the bus, try getting off a stop earlier, or make extra trips up and down the stairs, just to increase your movement on a daily basis. If I pop to the shops in town, rather than drive, or even walk, I take my bike, and take a longer route there/back. I can cycle a couple of miles in the time it would take me to do the shorter walk to the bank in town, for example. While the weather is dry, it's an opportunity not to be missed, as the rain and cold weather will descend again in a few months, and then it's harder to get out to exercise as enjoyably. Little changes all add up, and can make a big difference. Be pleased with your 6 1/2lb loss, if you were to achieve the same next month, you'll be looking at having lost your first stone! Now that isn't to be sniffed at.One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing
Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home0
