Here comes the sun! It's almost bikini time!

Welcome to the place where we encourage you not to save £'s but to lose Lb's instead :D

So you wanna lose weight? You've come to the right place! :D Need a chat, a shoulder, advice perhaps or even some downright silliness??

Pull up a chair and join in the chat, whatever plan you're following to lose weight, be it SW, WW, RC, or just plain old reducing what you eat and increasing the exercise, there'll be someone here that can help and advise, or offer moral support.

There are plenty of regulars here who follow all types of plan and will be willing and able to help you out or at least point you in the right direction.

During the course of the week, feel free to post your weekly loss, gain or no change, and see your results in a chart that's updated every Wednesday evening. To help us older folk quickly spot the losses, please post the loss as BOLD and Colourful as possible :) (Its helps those of us with bad eyes ;) )

Also you can take part in the 5lb monthly challenge - This is a fun mini motivational monthly challenge, in which the goal of losing 2lb per week, is spread out to 5lb per month. Next one has just about started so get your name down quick and post your name and start the new list. You could be Slimmer of the Week, or Slimmer of the Month! :j:j The chart is currently maintained by one of our delightful ladies... me :D

A few abbreviations:
STS ~ Stay The Same (No change in weight)
HHA ~ Half Hour Activity, 30 minutes of whatever activity you choose, as long as it gets you moving it's good for you!
HHSS ~ Half Hour Sofa Slumping :p
SOTW ~ Slimmer Of The Week
SOTM ~ Slimmer Of The Month

We have plenty of recipes to help you in the recipes thread (link below) and there are links to useful websites below. There are some friendly peoples 'Before and After' Pics on Lose Weight 19 and 20 :)

So come and join us, we're a friendly bunch! There are even one or two gentlemen hiding amongst us! Well one of us is gentle ;)

Thanks for the new thread Raphael!

It's been such a fab week this week with the weather & everything. Done pretty well with the plan too - average intake 1935 calories/day (this is enormous for me... not been that high since pre-diet days!!!) Correct balance of intake v exercise achieved on 7 days out of 7 :T (This required raising calories above target of 1850/day on 4 days).

Here's how I've been making the most of the glorious weather:
    • Monday: 5K track run | 26:21 mins new pb :D | 240 cal | Track jog | 41 mins | 305 cal
    • Tuesday: Road cycling | 50 mins | 287 cal
    • Wednesday: Mountain biking | 67 mins | 401 cal | Cross trainer | 30 mins | 216 cal
    • Thursday: Hilly cross country jog | 110 mins | 731 cal
    • Friday: Walk | 62 mins | 304 cal | Cycling (bridleways) | 35 mins | 161 cal
    • Saturday: Road cycling | 2x 20 mins | 238 cal | Exercise bike | 30 mins | 160 cal | Manual treadmill | 30 mins | 172 cal | Jumps | 30 mins | 178 cal | Step | 30 mins | 156 cal
    • Sunday: Skipping rope | 31 mins | 210 cal | Yoga 25 mins
Total 11 hours 13 mins and 4031 calorie burn (over 1lb's 'worth' of exercise!). 11 different activities.

Pre-TOTM so I'm not going near scales for a week. Feel great though! Good luck next week everyone! :j

    Ohh, shiney new thread :j

Hope you like the recipe, let me know what you think, i used the Morphy Richards Breadmaker cup and it made 12 normal cake case size muffins. Managed to do Tae Bo Cardio tonight, feeling much better, now where are those cakes :rotfl: Have a good evening all.

Howdy again folks. Hope everyone is ok.

I did read about missy with the meals. I remember asking for a kids menu and they refused me! I say have a large portion, you exercise enough to burn off the calories!!

I've been watching the london marathon today, its so inspiring! ive said for a long time i want to do it, and now i feel its more of a possibility. I manage to talk myself out of alot of things though, but after seeing a man of 73 years skipping and running it i cant make many excuses! I was thinking maybe the 31st marathon, but im no runner what so ever and the training in winter really puts me off but i might just go for it!

I was sunbathing in my new flat today :D feels like my mums conservatory! So warm. I had a little snooze it was that relaxing!!

    right im off, speak soon.
  • Thanks for the new thread Raph.

Reporting a 0.8lb gain on 14275 calories and 5/7 days activities which included a spin class, horseriding, a gym session and 3 hikes (23 miles in total :D)

That was the 0.8lb I lost last week :rotfl:

Thanks for the new thread raph! Well dinner felt more like lunch (and thinking about it would be under 300 cals) so am still feeling a bit hungry! Have some nimble bread in though, so will hold out and have 100cals worth of toast a bit later to "tide me over".

    Glad you're feeling better nmm.

Vix - I'm well impressed you'd consider a marathon!!! The 31st is the one in 2011, right? Training through the winter isn't so bad, I really feel the cold but I don't think I missed my weekly long run once. I found cycling harder than running during the winter.

Well done FFM on your fortnightly STS result :D and another fab week's activity! You're certainly clocking up those miles!!! Your pooch must be getting pretty fit and muscular too! What sort of level (if that's the right term) are you up to with the horseriding now?
  • Hi Missy, yes the dog is becoming very fit :D we did another 9 miles today. She was still bouncing around at the end, another lab owner asked how old she was, I said '5', they said '5 months ?' :rotfl:I said 'no, 5 years' - they said it was 'cos she was so bouncy - and they didn't know she had already done 6 miles at that point :rotfl:

We got 'lost in the woods' yesterday. When we finally emerged we were no where near where I intended, so we walked along the river and then I phoned OH to come and get us - it was that or tea was going to be really late :D I really could do with some kind of SAT NAV thingy. The woodland trails round here are brilliant, but there are no land marks (or people for literally miles - gets a bit spooky sometimes - glad I've got the dog with me).

My riding instructor was promising me to start cantering soon but she was on holiday last week, so the stand-in had me trotting over poles and circling/crossing the arena. So I'm up to trotting and steering :rotfl: I grin from ear to ear during my lessons and probably for at least 2 hours afterwards - I enjoy it so much :D

  • I am deffo gonna start a diet tomoz. I had an op a few years ago and it caused narrowing of the bowel. I eat and nothing flows freely without help so as a result I've piled it on. Realised today just how fat and healthy I've become. Exercise is a killer cos any bending and walking causes pain, another reason for becoming a member of the hefty heifer club. Need to lose about three stone possibly more. I don't eat red meat, eggs or beans so any low fat recipes would be great. I think I eat too many carbs and not enough protein because I was scrawny a few years ago and lived on fruit and meat.
