I have only ever had Maestro and don't really like VISA, same with c/c I prefer my MasterCard

What is it about Visa that you don't like? It does the same job as Maestro, doesn't it?

I know it's probably intensely subjective, but... why?! Visa and MasterCard work in precisely the same way, the only real difference for most people is the logo...

Actually, there's one difference - Visa Debit Chargeback. Always a bonus.

Well I guess it's just what I've always had and I don't see any real benefit to having one over the other but I do prefer the maestro logo.

It is actually Visa chargeback not just Visa debit, and it can also be done with any Mastercard too, Debit, Credit, or prepaid, it just has to have the scheme logo on it.

Visa chargeback applies to all cards with the Visa logo on them

Section 75 claims apply to all credit cards

Mastercard debit cards (Mostly Maestro but soon DebitMastercard too) chargeback only works for foreign retailers and if they go bankrupt

    http://www.mastercard.com/us/merchant/pdf/TB_CB_Manual_10_08.pdf

Here is the entire manual all 531 pages of it, you will find Mastercard and Maestro do not have the same procedure and Mastercard charge back applies to all cards that have the logo on them and you claim within I beleive 120 days same as Visa.

Also section 75 of the CCA 1974 and a Visa Chargeback are too different things entirely, you may well be able to get Visa chargeback on a credit card and not be able to make a section 75 claim, i.e. it is under £100.

Just got a leaflet from Natwest regarding an account which clearly mentions that they will replace a card with 'Visa Debit', so it seems that they are definitely moving!

Good to hear that it's 100% correct. By the way, could you scan the leaflet if you have a scanner that is, or just type what it says on the leaflet? :o

When are they planning the switch?

    No more speculations now!
