I stood behind someone in the supermarket queue the other day who had a Natwest Visa. So it seems they are already switching.

Are you sure that wasn't a credit card? NatWest (and RBS) used to offer a choice of Mastercard or Visa for their credit cards, although only Mastercard seems to be available now on their website. There must be a lot of people around who still have NatWest Visa credit cards.
  • Was the visa sign on the top (credit card) or bottom (debit card) right hand side? and was it the standard royal blue colour?

Those are not universal positions, they vary from bank to bank. My Nationwide debit card has the Visa sign at the top, while my Barclaycard credit card has it at the bottom. As for the colour, that will change every time the bank updates the design.

Why not open the current account, and when you want to move any cash out fast payment it into another bank current account that comes with a VISA?

It was on the bottom right and it was the standard blue Visa logo. Looked more like a debit card than a credit card as, not that I am nosey, I was surprised to see it.

Natwest used to offer visa or mastercard credit cards but now seem to be concentrating on mastercards. Not heard anything about the visa switch yet.

Seems a bit of a palaver ... surely much easier just to have an account with a bank that has a Visa card. There's no real reason to go with Natwest, as far as I know they don't even pay any interest on their current account.

They do pay interest on the Step Account. I get a whole 2p roughly every month.

Exactly ... you get 2p, whilst I get £5 on mine :) (not at Natwest!)

You get £5, whilst I get just under £15 on mine :) (not at Halifax!)
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂
