Can I have a Visa Debit with NatWest??

  • I have just called NatWest to report my Maestro card as lost. He was very helpful and a new one will be sent by the end of the week. I almost asked whether it would be a Visa Debit, but I didn't want it to be too obvious! :rotfl:

    It's a bit naughty, but the only reason I don't use the account is because a lot of websites don't accept the card.

    Edit: I called 01423 700545, which was free from my mobile. That went to the lost credit card department, but she put me through without any problems.
  • I have 01614517551 for Actionline, rather than the 0845.
  • Just reading that a few people are calling up and say that they have lost their cards in order to get a Visa Debit, if you do this your card will be cancelled immediately though as you rightly say your new one will be dispatched quickly.

    If you just call up the bank and say you'd like a replacement card, either because your cards damaged or because you'd prefer a visa debit card they can send one to you, would take the usual 10 days for a replacement card but your existing card wouldn't stop working until you've activated the new one.

    Just called. Option 2 and you are transferred to CS.

    I didn't ask about VISA debit, just said chip is damaged and they asked if the card is still usable. I said it is but will not work in shops with chip & pin and also the card reader couldn't read it.

    They said new card will arrive in 7 to 10 days.

    Hopefully it will be a VISA debit.

    True. That is why I said the chip was damaged. I do not want to be without the card for a single day.

    They said it will still be active until the new one arrives.

    Think i`ll give them a call with this excuse this afternoon,............. Hope we are right about the dates.......... there is no word of a changeover on the UB website LOL
