Thanks, Becles. That's a lovely idea.
Dooj, I can get on board with all of that. Sounds like a lot of fun.
We made planets out of pompops and stuck stars on too. He wanted to put rings round them all and we did it with glue and glitter. There's glitter in my hair but what a laugh!
Thanks again everyone!May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
Sounds like you might have a future Einstein on your hands there Gingham!!
I used to be a nanny for a 3yr-old boy who was very interested in archeology (sp?)
and dinosaurs...problem is - it forces you to learn about all these things yourself so that you can help them learn all about it! I used to know all the names of all the different dinosaurs you could ever get and what they all look like... He got scared when I took him to see the Thomas The Tank Engine movie, but yet he could watch life-like dinosuars devour their prey, with all the nasty sound-effects???
He used to love watching 'Dora the Explorer' and be facinated by all these archeology documentaries about new discoveries - the kind of programs that would bore me!! Didint know how it could fascinate a 3-yr old!!
We use to go to museums alot, and his pants pockets always use to be filled with 'rocks' and stones he's picked up along the way in the park and wherever we've been for walks outside** i didn't lose my mind, i sold it on ebay **0 -
Well I've used my own suggestion. I got the map out of its box and the clear table covering from the cupboard and the kids are now glued to the table looking for all the countries. The map is brilliant. It was in a set, with a map of the UK, that I found in our local poundshop a few months ago. It is really brightly coloured and has all the flags down one side. You can spot the capitals and look for the highest mountains and much much more.I like to live in cloud cuckoo land :hello:0

The map looks good, Tokochick, but did any toys come with it? £17 does seem a lot for a map?May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

Hi have you looked at stellarium, an astronomy programme which you can download.
It displays planets, constellations and stars visible from a set viewpoint on earth. You can even alter the speed of time and watch the stars move across the sky as the sun sets and rises.
You can download it at http://stellarium.sourceforge.net0 -
Kyle, I think we'll do that for us as well as him, thanks!
As for the map, Tokochick, it's given me a great idea. If I get a large, colourful map, I can use stickers to liven it up, adding animals, trees, pictures of food, whatever we want! And if it's on the table, covered with plastic, we could have the toys playing over it, maybe a train could go over land then we'd need a boat or plane...

another thing you can do is to encourage friend and rellies to send him postcards when they go away on hols, so he can build up a picture bank of the world!
