That looks lovely.
My inlaws got one of the space jigsaws from the early learning centre for him. He's a bit young for such a big jigsaw, so they made it up for him and stuck it on some board and put a frame round it. It's hanging in his room and he loves it.
I found some books in the library. The staff were really helpful. They're too old for him, but he likes the pictures.
He's been climbing out of his cot this week, so I'm on the look out for a bed for him. I saw a lovely kind of canopy thing for over beds in Ikea. It is dark blue with stars on it. I think he'd love it.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
Hello GR,
This is quite a nice online educational tool, you have to drag and drop the european countries into the correct location, if you insert them incorrectly they are corrected and at the end you are given a score of how many miles out you are. Certainly helped my European geog.
Im Not good at links so forgive me if I need to fiddle with it.
No luck with link, I'm afraid I will see if I can download it and pm you.
This seems to be in the form of a power point slide - can anyone tell me how to attach and send it?

I'm not so good at the explaining on account of my technical rubbishness. Sorry!
As for the lovely world map shower curtain, we got it recently and it's a big hit. And even I'm finally learning some geography too.
All this planets stuff is making me a bit crazy though. Even the 'consumer revenge' logo on the left of this site makes me think of Saturn.:rolleyes:May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
How about a blow up globe? Could be fun....

Littlest ds loved learning about the planets, he knew them all by the age of 3. Be warned your child will embarass you in public by shouting out 'can you see URANUS
he has an inflatable globe, and a world map on foam from wilkinsons for £1. Poundland is ok sometimes. Have you tried writing to the UN and asking what they will send you? Im not being facetious, used to be a teacher and I got loads of maps from various tourist offices, even free books when my begging letters were well penned! Join your local freecycle and ask for mappy globey stuff.
I think u can get an orrery (moving model of the planets) from the science museum website or https://www.hawkin.com
Have fun, kids are fantastic when they are at the 'learning sponge' (soaking everything up) stage!Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

You're right. It's a lovely time. Yesterday he told us that he was going to Zimbabwe on Jupiter and that's where Granny and Grandpa live. And the other day I was showing him the windows at the front of our house and asked him whose bedroom he could see. He said that it belonged to the Doodledoers. (Cbeebies.) I keep thinking he's making sense of things, then I realise his head has a whole world in there that I couldn't even begin to imagine!:DMay all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
Sounds to me like a good opportunity to visit your local library 2 educational experiences in one!
When you take up a play/nursery school place, make sure they know about your childs interests. They are bound to have some relevant resources and it will help with settling in.7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0 -
As this thread has just popped up again it reminded me.....It must be well over a month since I put a world map onto my dining table (covered with cheap clear table covering). It has been amazing. All the kids love it. They're always, and I mean always, having quizes etc on where to find various countries, capital cities, flags, tallest mountains etc etc etc etc etc..... Everytime one of the 2 yr olds I look after sits at the table she points out the union flag and says 'That's our flag', then points to the UK and says 'That's where we live'.. and I didn't tell her, she's just picked it up from the others.
Soon I will change the world map for one of the UK. I'm sure there are a lot of people out there who don't know where Aberdeen or Zennor are!I like to live in cloud cuckoo land :hello:0 -
That reminds me. I know someone with a laminator that I was going to borrow to make little map place settings for him. And we're looking for a cheap world map to stick on the wall next to the dining table too.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0
