Bless you for thinking of us! They're fabulous!
DH got him a book in a charity shop today for 20p. It looks fantastic. It's:
Kingfisher Facts and records Book of Space by Stuart Atkinson. It's really good and we're going to give it to Santa to put away for christmas.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
Similar questions, different 2 year old!
He was given a USA jigsaw a few months ago. It has all the states as seperate pieces. Next it was a 90 piece Europe jigsaw. He's itching for more.
What I'd like is to find him some jigsaws of different parts of the world. Glad, did you have any more info? Up to 100 or so pieces I think would be fine. I've ordered him this. to start with.
Any other ideas? He's also very into making things. I've been thinking about getting him gears and a marble run. I'd like to link it to his interest in learning about countries and animals. Any ideas?
Also, he's really into tigers and wants to know more but it's hard to find anything specifically about them that is suitable for a 2 year old. I'd like to get him a book about what they eat, where they come from, how they hunt and so on but that has lots of pictures and is 2 year old friendly.
I want to thank everyone who helped out when I first started this thread. I used so many of your ideas and still do. Our oldest is still very curious and he's kept up the enthusiasm in new subjects. (God bless David Attenborough. I don't know what I'd do without him at the moment!)May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
I can'r find a book specifically on tigers suitable for that age but this book will cover them and is aimed at 4 yr olds, so may be a good book to read with said child.

and how about this one too

On the gears side, rather than marbles have alook at good old meccano, they do meccano aimed at 2 year olds and when a little more able they do an orange box aimed at 4 year olds that is all geared constructions to build (their is also a green set -basic- and blue - motorised-).
Do you go in the works at all? I got a wonderful puzzle there for my DS that was a world map that had the animals that live in each country on (you could even add them as little stand up pieces). It may be worth checking out next time your passing.0 -
Those books both look perfect. Thank you. I hadn't thought of meccano. I'll have a look. I love the works. Not seen that particular puzzle yet. I'll keep my eye out.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0
