I have been to three weddings where the happy couple went away elsewhere to get married then just had a huge party when they got back for friends and family. They ALL were much more relaxed about it all than any of my friends (and myself) who all had a wedding with reception. You don't have to go far to go away either. Pick a favourite place in the country that you both like and go there with just parents or a friend or two to witness the event. The person who moves a mountain begins by carrying small stones.

Hi Scottishmummy, I think we'll probably end up going away too, because my OH is completely against getting married here. I'd love to have a party afterwards at home with all my firends and family, but he isn't keen on that either!! I guess we'll just have to compromise - I'd be compromising by going away and getting hitched, because its not really my first choice of wedding, so he can't have it all his way - its supposed to be the bride who is the diva not the groom after all!!
Things aren't good with his folks so I can see why he doesn't want the big white wedding, but it doesn't mean I want to run away just us and our daughter and get wed away from home. I just think it'd be really weird in the evening, you know, like totally flat with nothing to do and no-one to celebrate with?
On the money front have updated my signature with my payments made at the end of July. Have soooo much ebaying to do after my exams that should really give me a boost.
I have an exam tomorrow and am strangely calm about it. I think I was starting to read my notes and things too much so have given them a rest for the evening. Hopefully that is a good sign!!

Your figures are looking great without you doing too much well done. Just think what could happen after your exams.
I keep looking on ebay at cute little bridesmaid wands lol. Can just picture dd2 waving it as she runs down the aisle.0 -
Thanks Yukkibear - I can't wait to get stuck in after my exams!! Have a house full of ebay-able items! Lol
I soooo want to go and try on dresses, just for the fun of it, but I'm scared I see something I really like because we've not set a date or anything yet! Have you been looking at dresses yet?
CwC x0 -
No not yet, same as you really0

My sister is trying to persuade me, so we'll see! It'd probably scare me off getting married for a while once I see how much these dresses cost anyway lol :rotfl:0

Okay... so I have just been looking over my finances as they are changing MASSIVELY this month because my daughter starts going to a childminder! I get help from work in the form of childcare vouchers which I'm not taxed on but they capped they amount so this only covers half of what I need! To cut a long story short, my wages are going to be £150 a month less, plus I will need to pay the childminder £217 cash out of my wages
Hence, I feel like I'll never have enough money to pay off my debts because my income keeps dropping, and as you all know there is always road tax, or car repairs or DIY that seems to eat up money on a monthly basis. I guess for things like road tax I can start (and stick to!!) buying post office saving stamps monthly to help with that, but I will need to do some serious money making if I am to clear my feet any time soon. I also have tuition fee's to pay in September and although I can pay those monthly, they ask for a up front fee of £400-ish (thats what it was last year anyway) so I'm anticipating that too
I have a surplus of £250-ish each month on my calculations so I guess I will have to be very careful with that and try and throw maybe a minimum of £100 each month of that as additional debt repayments.
I really wanted to be rid of at least 2 creditors by the end of the year, but that might just not be possible at this rate.
Anyone have any ideas?0 -
Will do my new SOA tomorrow and re-post - it didn't seem to add up to the same as my famous spreadsheet (which is always right!!) so need to have a look at the SOA!!
Off to bed, I think my brain is fried with all these numbers I'm coming up with!!0
