So does it mean the courier is just too busy and my parcel will arrive in a matter of time?

That is the probably the best possible outcome.

I've been so busy delivering only just had a chance to look in and comment so not a rant about peoples opinions. I wish some of the negative comments reduced the volume of parcels I was getting but no such luck, so many new companies and so many happy customers here, I'm working 10-12 hours a day.

I've had no end of trouble with hermes, they have not delivered my package due to an "address query", it has the correct postage address and I have had no issues with any other couriers in the past.

I have had many parcels(Hermes Courier here) with insufficient addresses, usually a long road with no house number, a huge complex of apartment blocks with a number but a choice of 10 blocks, a Flat 1 in a large city and even Mr Jones in a large city.

I never know whose at fault is it the customer not filling in address fields properly, the company they order from passing on duff info or Hermes letting down the courier by not giving full info, my guess it's a joint venture, a mix of all.

These parcels have to go back to be correctly addressed, couriers don't have the time or inclanation to be Mystic Meg.

They often use this as an excuse not to deliver!! Has happened to me twice now yet I have a standard address with house number, street name, district, town & post code and easily found! When the parcel eventually arrives (damaged I might add!) the address label is correct so how they can say it's incomplete is beyond me! Some of these couriers are a joke lol.
The first one arrived 10 days late and badly damaged but the second never arrived & had to be re-sent using a different courier. The company have now stopped using Hermes and offer only Citylink or RM now... result
That's ok if you happen to live near a depot but my nearest Yodel/HDNL one is approx 60miles away!!
Must say, I was incredibly impressed last week, having missed a delivery by literally minutes, when the driver returned later that evening to re-deliver!! Wouldn't get that sort of service from Hermes

Have you proof Chameleon that "They often use this as an excuse not to deliver!!"
You've had so many delivery problems, I'm amazed you still trust any couriers or is it just Hermes you've always had problems with(or have never forgiven them for a past problem).

Can't see which company have stopped using Hermes only glimpsed through your posts though(may have missed it). Who is it?
I know Hermes are getting rid of some smaller companies(I understand not too much business and difficult customers(high claims etc) perhaps one of these and your lucky to feel you made an impact(Result).

I have often redelivered later to nice customers but no Chameleon you wouldn't get that EXTRA service from me either and I'm an easy going Hermes courier, In my opinion from reading your posts it states a lot about you and not the courier!

But then(!). Not ten minutes ago someone claiming to be the "emergency Hermes Courier" called from 2 villages asked for directions. Told him to take the parcel away:eek: and told him what I thought of the company too. With any luck the replacement will be here tomorrow!

Best of luck for future deliveries then Minardi. Are you sure the CLAIM "emergency Hermes Courier" isn't fact.
I've had couriers given to me to help because my volumes are so high, they struggle because they're not familiar with my route.

Won't order from this company again knowing that they use hermes, won't order from my catalogue either, knowing that they use HDN, the company who put my parcel in the bin. Why do the job if they are not prepared to do it correctly. Maybe if more people boycotted them for pulling stunts like mentioned on this thread, then just maybe they would get their act in gear. I've already said i sympathise for them being on low wages, that doesn't help the parcels I've had go missing or in the latest case, signed for by someone else other than me.

Just thought I'd highlight who put your parcel in the bin, not Hermes but HDN, it's amazing how many people would read your post and think it was Hermes although I'm sure I've just encouraged some posters to post that we have!

I don't think anyone expects customers to be concerned about our self employed status and pay per parcel, it's our business as you say between Hermes and couriers. I don't have a problem, you would never have a parcel left in bins or any other insecure place, nor neighbours unless arranged by the customer(agreed by you and house I.D. given)
    I return items no problem,

I believe the customer should make arrangements to receive their delivery, I'd prefer to return parcels and lose money then encourage customers who take the mickey.

Not quite sure what you mean by this. The fact that I'm an exemplary customer, hence the courier doing me a huge favour by re-delivering for me in his own time?!

I don't think you need to encourage, read back more pages and i am sure you will see the same theme repeated.

Some people do make arrangements to recieve deliverys, some times its the delivery agent that lets the receiver down.

As Hermes makes it hard if not impossiable to contact the delivery agent updating arrangements would be hard.
Power is good, but then you get the bill....
  • if any delivery drivers operating in the walsall area are reading this please help me if you can. I filled out all my address forms correctly, even writing a note that I live on the top floor of a secure apartment block and the courrier would need to buzz my intercom or call my mobile and I would run down and get it, I was in the flat both times they tired to deliver according to the tracking system but recieved no call. The company I bought my parcel from are German and dont understand the issue and any attempts I make at getting in touch with hermes just tells me to contact the retailer. It is a very important Christmas present which was ordered in good time but I have had such problems with hermes. I will drive to wherever and pick up the parcel if I neeed to I just need to get it. Any advice would be really appreciated, thanks.

Hermes don't usually deliver to high-rises, they pass most of these deliveries on to UPS. Maybe this has happened now?

Sadie - Yes I've had problems with HDN(yodel) putting my parcel in the bin, I've also had problems with Hermes putting it in the bin. As I previously stated I used to discourage posties from this practice so know it even happens with RM.

Have you asked all your suppliers to stop using Royal Mail?

My (proper) Yodel/HDNL man has just received a bottle of whisky for his Xmas box from me, thanks to his exemplary service throughout the year! :D

Unfortunately, I've just discovered my Boots parcel is in the hands of the joker Yodel group so I've no idea when that will arrive despite it being out for delivery today, especially as I'll be out this afternoon having expected it to arrive with the proper Yodel delivery this morning
