Problem with Hermes Delivery Services

Yes, if I am paying for a service to have an item delivered to my address, that's what I expect. I don't ask them to work for that kind of money.
Back on this old chestnut, they know what they are getting paid before they accept the job, for goodness sake, as previously stated, I do feel for anyone struggling on this kind of money, but do the job properly.
I can't be bothered to reply to your other points, seeing as you keep changing the goalposts to suit your argument. But these two points I have to answer. First of all, you are asking them to work for the money they get. Do be so disingenuous to ask us to assume that you don't know they do not get very much at all and that when you order something with free or very cheap delivery, that you don't know that the courier is getting almost beggar all out of it.
Secondly, the way Hermes recruits their drivers is one of smoke and mirrors. They get told all sorts of lies and falsehoods to get them to sign a contract. Hermes refuse to breakdown their pay, so they do not know what they are getting paid for and how much, until it is too late. That is why they don't hang around for long and you have no consistency of service.
How much more would you be prepared to pay for your deliveries if you got the service you want? The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
Well no matter what anyone states on here, you seem to be determined to excuse bad practice for low wages.
Believe it or not, I paid around £7 for my last delivery. Which would have cost the same through RM. So I don't think I've underpaid for the service. Just because these guys n gals are on low wages isn't the recipient's fault.
As for changing the goalposts. I have stated my grievances that I personally have had with Hermes and HNDL (or whatever they are called these days)4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
After reading these posts about Hermes, I started to worry about my parcel... So I ordered from Topshop on Dec 9 and it said it would arrive no later than Dec 16 (today). I had Hermes courier quite a few times in the past and they were quite prompt and efficient... except for this time:
13/12/2011 08:18 Not Received by Courier
13/12/2011 03:24 Out For Delivery
12/12/2011 09:38 Courier to Re-attempt
11/12/2011 21:04 Processed at Depot
11/12/2011 19:46 Receipt at Depot
10/12/2011 14:47 Hub Sorter Receipt Scan
09/12/2011 23:49 Order Generated
So, it stopped updating since Dec 13. I called Topshop a few times and the waiting time was ridiculous. The customer care team didnt give much help... they said my address was incomplete but that was just nonsense because I had parcels delivered to me many times with that address and THAT IS MY ADDRESS! Does anyone know if the delivery has just been delayed because it is close to Christmas? Or it has gone missing..... thanks in advance!0 -

They often use this as an excuse not to deliver!! Has happened to me twice now yet I have a standard address with house number, street name, district, town & post code and easily found! When the parcel eventually arrives (damaged I might add!) the address label is correct so how they can say it's incomplete is beyond me! Some of these couriers are a joke lol
Cue Flyboy152 to step forward with yet another list of excuses :rotfl:“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
May I ask how long did it take for the parcel to be delivered?0

The first one arrived 10 days late and badly damaged but the second never arrived & had to be re-sent using a different courier. The company have now stopped using Hermes and offer only Citylink or RM now... result!“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

its not an excuse as such(well yes and no)
the driver needs to close the tracking with a reason
there isnt a resolution for "you gave me too many parcels,i had a breakdown etc etc"
so they select a resolution from those available that gives them an option to redeliver0 -
So does it mean the courier is just too busy and my parcel will arrive in a matter of time?0

Or it could be that the address was incomplete. Just because one person is able to find Tall Trees House, Chipping Norton, doesn't mean that everyone can. The lack of detail on the address doesn't necessarily mean it is the fault of the recipient (although if they have only used the house name, instead of the number, it is no surprise that no one can find them), but the supplier not transferring that information to the courier. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0
