I am a Hermes courier. I don't smoke BUT I can tell you that there is NO policy in place regarding smoking in vehicles. We are self-employed, the vehicles are our own and we can do whatever we like in them!

On the other side of the coin .... we often receive poorly packaged returns from customers which stink of cigarette smoke, have been !!!!ed on by the dog .... or worse!

Does the law not differentiate with business vehicles?

only if no-one else ever gets into your vehicle, otherwise:

    Enclosed vehicles

11.—(1) Subject to the following paragraphs of this regulation, an enclosed vehicle and any enclosed part of a vehicle is smoke-free if it is used—
    (a) by members of the public or a section of the public (whether or not for reward or hire); or
    (b) in the course of paid or voluntary work by more than one person (even if those persons use the vehicle at different times, or only intermittently).

hi all i work for hermes as a self enpolyed driver and i mke a profit of 300 pound a week and only do a maxium of 6 hours a day so people saying about they are not good to work for should think twice now to the people about missing parcels every parcel is now scanned from the company to use then scanned again to come to you so they are record all the way if your cataluge company cant tell you were a parcel is then it is them that have not done there job right in the first place as i said earlyer every think is scanned so there is no way parcels can go missing so that i seem to be going on that we get the blame we have been so much bizyer with lots of new clients so personally i think we must be doing are job right thanks

if they are scanned every step of the way how come my catalogue courier[hermes]just chucks stuff over my back garden without leaving a card?i never agreed to this as we have dodgy neighbours who can easily get over our fence or sometimes i dont open the door quick if am upstairs enough as i have mobility problems.if my dog is out there he just pees on the parcel.would the catalogue take an item back covered in dog wee??am waiting on two parcels at the min.both week overdue and no cards through door.probably been nicked.whose responsibility is that if there was no card put through

  • Hermes have also delivered with excellent service to me. I live in the south east of England and there are no problems with my local delivery man! Both times I have ordered from Topshop they have been prompt deliveries. I recieved a package delivered by them yesterday after being told it would be delayed a few days later- so they obviously do work hard to keep on schedule. Not only did I get what I wanted on time without dissapointment which I had been expecting, the man was incredibly friendly and told me to have a nice day- service with a smile is rarely found in delivery drivers. After reading poor reviews when researching what 'left from hub' or something meant, I though it would only be fair to show a more representitive view on Hermes. It is such a shame Hermes are being made out to be so poor on forums like this unfairly because people more often than not only bother to write on these things when they want to complain. Thank you to my local Hermes delivery man.

update, the parcels were left in my porch, pity i havent got a porch.catalogue investigating and replaced stuff.ordered a skirt from evans last wed, tracked it mon only to see 'delivered to garage' on sunday at 10.02pm.when i rang evans cust serv to query they investigated and said it had been a mistake and the courier still had the parcel, his car had broken down and he would deliver next day, yesterday.did he?no he didnt.had to ring evans again and they refunded my delivery, wow!! got an offer on for free delivery anyway.no signs of it today and evans still investigating.surprise surprise they also use hermes.am just glad the evans one has gone missing before it got to me as what would that make me look like,2 claims in 2 weeks for missing parcels?will never order from anyone who uses them again.is there any way you can find out what delivery service companies use before you buy? mind you, today i was outside and parcelforce came to my house with a parcel for my address but a different name on it.how on earth does that happen?was my postcode and everything.it was little kids flipflops and adult ones by the feel of the parcel, definitely not mine.how on earth does that happen? i refused the delivery.

Haha I've been looking for a new job and an agency wanted to put me forward to work for this lot. I couldn't put my finger on it but there was something I didn't quite like when I was reading the job spec and stuff they sent me so I said I wasn't interested. Looks like I made the right call.
