1) I had not ordered anything
2) I live in a terraced house and the back door is not accessable unless you climb over the garden fences or go through the garage which was locked.
3) There was no parcel to be found anywhere.
I emailed hermes explaining what had happened - they very heplfully appologised and told me to contact the company I orderd from (except I havent ordered anything).
What could be going on? Its all very strange.
I have had a very simialr problem. Came home from work and had the postcard through the door. The parcel had been left at 'unintelligable place' I looked and looked everywhere I thiught a courier would consider 'safe' but no parcel.
As I had not ordered anything myself, I assumed it could have been a birthday present. As the courier had put not one detail on the card, I have no way of tracking the parcel. I cannot contact the dispatch company as I have not ordered anything.
I emailed Hermes, got an automated response saying that I had to contact the company I had ordered the goods from. Round and round it goes.
I still don't know what was delivered, by which company, and as the courier omitted his details and Hermes are virtually uncontactable, I have lost out. Whoever sent me a parcel may never know I didn't get it. Or think i'm really rude by not thanking them! Also I live in a block of flats and there is NO safe place to leave parcels as we now have a family of junkies living here with all their hangers on!
I though companies had proceedures they had to have in place in order to actually be running a legitimate business? Otherwise it all sounds pretty fraudulaent to me and trading standards should be investigating them.0 -
Until today, we had no trouble with Hermes for delivering within the UK.
I ordered some cosmetics from France and as my order was placed more than 3 weeks ago and I still haven't received it , I decided to contact the company to find out that Hermes had registered my parcel as delivered and signed....
When I asked the company to provide me with the name and the image recorded by Hermes as my signature, I was shocked to see that the driver had signed himself impersonating me. To his bad luck my signature has nothing to do with the typical signature of just writing one's name.
The company will replace my order and already told me they will formally complain to Hermes (I provided proof of my signature). But really, trying to fake customer's signature?!
I seriously feel that may be it is the right thing to go to the police. I am sure it will not take them long to pin him/her.
If you want to receive parcels from Europe, Hermes is again a real frustration.
A relative sent us last year a parcel from abroad thinking that because Hermes works there all fine and has competitive prices, he could use them to send a Birthday gift as well. After a lot of investigation and the usual courier lies
(DHL courier serves the same lies about attempts to redeliver, but at least parcels do not disappear)
for attempts of re-delivery, the parcel was returned after a month to the sender0 -
Allow me to add my expereinces with this company so far this week.
I had a card pusehd through the door from Hermes saying that they called but missed me, this could have been true as I had to leave the house for a short while. Will retry Tuesaday (next day). No phone number or anything on card.
Tuesday 7.30 PM no delivery, called Hemes and was told that it would definitely be tomorrow, sometimes the drivers do Mon, Wed, Fri. (so why put Tue down?) I said ok.
Wednesday 7:30 PM, no delivery, called again, put on hold then told he had spoken to driver who was coming tonight. I said ok then. Guess what, no delivey.
I count that as two lies and one of them bare faced just to get me off the phone, guess tomorrow I'll be someone elses bigger problem.
Avoid if possible, this is from an Evans order (Arcadia) so I'll probably ask them for a refund, why should I chase these charlatans!0 -
I can't believe there are so many probs with Hermes! I was expecting a couple of parcels yesterday, and guess what they didn't arrive! I just called them to find out that the driver made an attempt...oh hell they didn't! He didn't leave a card or anything...and then the advisor said maybe he didn't?! Do they even know what they are talking about.
I don't know how I can solve this, as I enjoy shopping with Vertbaudet, who just happen to use Hermes....boohoo!!!!!...trying to be more money savvy everyday. :T0 -

its a cheap service,as with many things you get what you pay for
I beleive they use mainly owner/drivers working from home0 -
I really wish I had a job like our local hermes delivery driver.
Sometimes he "nips"home 5 or 6 times a day.
Get a bit sick of his lorry reversing horn.0 -
~Chameleon~ wrote: »Can any of you Hermes couriers tell me what the policy of smoking in your vehicles whilst delivering parcels is please?
As a non-smoker I get extremely angry at taking delivery of MY goods stinking of cigarette smoke, to the point where I'm going to start refusing to accept them!
I am a Hermes courier. I don't smoke BUT I can tell you that there is NO policy in place regarding smoking in vehicles. We are self-employed, the vehicles are our own and we can do whatever we like in them!
On the other side of the coin .... we often receive poorly packaged returns from customers which stink of cigarette smoke, have been !!!!ed on by the dog .... or worse!0
