Problem with Hermes Delivery Services

I'v had a problem with these cowboys too
I ordered an item of clothing from Burtons and paid for the 3-4 day delivery.
Recieved an emal straight away saying order was dispatched
DateTimeStatus14/01/2010 04:05 Out For Delivery 13/01/2010 18:57 Courier to Re-attempt 12/01/2010 04:31 Out For Delivery To Courier 12/01/2010 03:37 Processed at Depot 12/01/2010 00:22 Receipt at Depot 11/01/2010 17:54 Hub Sorter Receipt Scan 11/01/2010 17:29 Order Generated
No card left, someone has always been in for delivery but nobody has even knockedon the door.
I have contacted burtons several times, to which they said they would chase it up with HERMES and call me back.
No call recieved
Today I have recontacted BURTONS who state HERMES have not responded to their email
Obviously a litle annoyed and burtons have refunded my p&p.
I then used the number on page 1 for HERMES, who state that the order has been attempted but there was no answer???? I advised this was not the case to which they put me on hold whilst they contacted the driver.
A few minutes later they came back saying that there was a backlog due to weather and my item will be delivered this aftenoon but could not give a time.
Fair enough the weather has not been ideal but I'v still managed to travel and go to work and other delivery and royal ail have managed too.
Hopefully I won't be wasting my day off work waiting for a delivery.0 -
I am still waiting for a parcel that I ordered on December 31st 09. The delivery time stated was from the 5th - 9th of January. I have been in most of the weeks since the new-year and had nothing. Have had a parcel from Royal Mail that I bought this month, 3 days after I purchased it from E-Bay.
I was helping my friend move home on Sunday (as I thought parcels/post weren't delivered on a Sunday) and sure enough on my return I had a "sorry you were out" card from Hermes, which said they will try again on Monday (yesterday) I woke up extra early with my partner (about 6.30am) and for 12hours I was in, no knock, no card, no nothing.
I contacted Wynsors - The World Of Shoes today, who said that the item had been dispatched and I don't receive it today (Tuesday) then to contact them back and they would chase it up. Been up since 7.30am and still nothing has arrived0 -
I too work for Hermes, and while some of you have had bad experiences please don't assume that the entire company is bad, you can get "rotten apples" in any company, and I agree they should be got rid of.
Personally, I try very hard to make sure everyone gets their parcels the morning I receive them, I will go out again in the evening to catch customers who were out, and I have many happy customers.
And yes, Fr Anthony, I will ring the bell and knock at the same time, have you any idea how many bells don't work? And how many customers have selective deafness when its comes to their doorbells?:)
As I am self employed I arrange my own motor insurance and can carry whatever passengers I wish.
During all the snow and ice recently I was out every day and everyone got their parcels, even though it took hours longer than normal. (If more people bothered to clear their paths and driveways of snow and ice it would have been an easier job, if I had sixpence for every person who told me to "be careful, its slippy", I might be retiring now:))
I have used the myhermes service personally as well, and it worked fine. If you're going to use it, please remember to wrap the parcel up well and stick on the barcode label, we're not allowed to collect without that label as it can't be tracked without it.
As someone else said, we don't get paid until the parcel is delivered, so we make every attempt to, we don't want to send it back and we don't want to have to make lots of journeys to the same house to find you are still out. So if you get a card saying a courier will be back tomorrow morning and you know you won't be in, please phone us and make another arrangement, it's very demoralizing to know that you do not value our time as we value your parcel!
Oh and one final point - men, please make sure your pyjama bottoms are SHUT before you answer the door!!!
If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?0 -

I also work for Hermes and I couldn't agree with you more:T0 -

The problem is its not just a few rotten apples by reports the only people who seem to think myhermes are any good are you couriers.
There are numerous threads on the ebay community boards and have been on the ebay boards here about problems with myhermes so it doesn't look like an isolated incident. My Hermes need to do some serious work on there service and public relations. There's little point in offering such competitive prices if the service is rubbish0 -

If they encounter any difficulty there are contracted rescue services to aid them.
It took me and many couriers many hours to deliver only a few parcels, the area we work was particularly bad, we got stuck several times, my husband had to get me out of particulary bad icy ditch that I was stuck in for a couple of hours. I fell over several times, damaged my pelvis.
With the support of our field manager we decided we would not deliver for a further 2 days until the local roads were further gritted and cleared.
At 45 to 65pence per parcel we couldnt risk our vehicles and our limbs in this way! I think on that day I earnt £5 for 3 hours work.
I also encountered a man who came out of his house shouting at me because his wifes birthday present hadnt arrived in the overnight service he's paid for. He left me in tears, I had delivered to him one day late in 5 inches of snow in my car that had slid all the way down his road and almost crashed. It wasnt even my fault, the delivery vans hadnt made it to my depot as they had got stuck on the motorway the day before.
Just wanted to clarify why it wasnt easy to deliver in the snow..and please dont shout at us!! No bad feeling intended.0 -
@felinefriend, I mean no disrespect to you, I really don't, but I think you should be very careful not to provide any information which may help your employer to identify you, because everything you just said reflects on them very - no, extremely - badly, and I can't imagine why anybody would order from a retailer using Hermes for delivery after reading your account.
I mean really, you have just indicated that they have a pathetic infrastructure compared to the likes of Royal Mail and City Link, and that's maddening to people like me who pay similar postage costs to the retailer for an exponentially worse delivery service. On top of that, we hear that you're underpaid, treated badly, inadequately kitted out (certainly if you're repeatedly falling over in icy conditions) and perhaps even physically unsuitable for the job. Is it any surprise then that morale is so low among Hermes couriers that SOME have such disrespect for their employer, and can't even be bothered to convey a good impression for the sake of the company image? I'm assuming the courier responsible for delivering my parcel from Debenhams - despatched two weeks ago - falls in that camp because they've been pretending attempted deliveries every day since. We know they are lying because not only has somebody been here all that time, but we have CCTV. Do you think I should fart rainbows and express general delight rather than complain when my courier finally turns up? (Assuming he or she makes it of course.)
Honestly, I didn't think my impression of Hermes could get any worse until I Googled and read this. I'm sorry that some of you couriers live in such economically deprived areas that you must resort to the likes of Hermes for jobs, I really am. They are an absolute disgrace.0 -
Quaver, surely the answer is for consumers not to use those retailers which only offer Hermes delivery?0

INMO there is far too many single figure post wonders on this thread for it to be credible.0

Can any of you Hermes couriers tell me what the policy of smoking in your vehicles whilst delivering parcels is please?
As a non-smoker I get extremely angry at taking delivery of MY goods stinking of cigarette smoke, to the point where I'm going to start refusing to accept them!“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0
