Hermes are pure crap,i ordered £70 of stuff from topman on the 5th of may guaranteed to arrive by friday the 13th,just happened to check their website on wed 11th seen their courier was hermes and a tracking number so i clicked on number, took me too the hermes site and their message said delivery was attempted that day, no card through door and no attempt was made to deliver as there was someone at home all day tried to contact Hermes but impossible i emailed them and my reply was they cant help me ive to contact topman, which i did so ive to wait on them getting back to me,checked hermes site again on Friday morn it said out for delivery again so i waited in all day, nothing arrived,i contacted topman again today to tell them if it doesnt arrive today(Saturday)just to cancel it and to issue refund as i go to Gran Canaria at 7am on Monday morn for 2 weeks so i wont be here to accept it nor will i be able to chase it up,also it is costing Topman custom cause i wont buy from them again while they use this courier, very unproffesional,i dont mind paying a bit more to get a proffesional company such as Royal Mail etc to deliver my goods
Yeah....okay. And when Royal Mail don't deliver, what will you do then? The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
Computer equipment is also a non-compensation item with DHL, HDNL, CityLink and other mainstream suppliers. Not just MyHermes.
I know Royal Mail Special Delivery provide compensation for computers, mobile, gold bars, cash and many other items.
EDIT:
DHL does laptop as well. Did not look up others.

Laptop Computers - No more than 1 laptop computer per package. Each package may not contain more than 1 lithium battery which must be contained within the laptop. The shipment must not exceed £1,000 per waybill0 -
at least with royal mail, you can talk to them and find out about your delivery or even go to their depot to collect, you dont have these options with the other one
Only if the supplier has given the carrier express instructions to do so. Your contract is with the company you ordered the goods from, not the courier. You need to follow the agreed procedures the supplier has regarding deliveries, that is the only way to proceed. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
Oh dear, all this makes scary reading!
I'm very worried now as I arranged for a return to Debenhams, which I returned to the shop myself. When I called Debenhams to cancel the courier they told me they couldn't cancel it and when the courier turnd up "just tell them to go away". Pretty harsh in my book. Anyway, I had also arranged for a return to BHS so told the receptionist at my work the box was for BHS (and had return to BHS scrawled over it) and not to go with the Debenhams courier. As it was picked up on Monday and I got a Hermes ticket i presumed BHS use Hermes too, until today when the proper BHS courier called (2 days late!).
So I finally managed to find a contact number for Hermes on this thread and speak to a real human being, but they don't know where my parcel is and are going "to try and find where it is tomorrow".
How high do you think the chances are???!!!!0 -

When did that begin?
Unless you send recorded or specia ldelivery with royalmail there is no way of knowing where it is. Even with these upgrades, you can never be sure if they have marked it as delivered before delivering it to meet their targets or whether it has actually arrived at its destination.
Have you phone myhermes AND royalmail? Because I have and find myhermes to be quicker and easier to get through to somebody.
Our "nondelivery" % is also much higher with royalmail than myhermes.
Downside being myhermes are slower.0 -

Hermes normally sort through items and pass them at their cost to the rightful company, shame they don't treat the courier as well, suppose it's good advertisement for them. You have a good chance of being credited, it can be traced by the return sticker, hope it works out well for you.
I'm glad you thought Debenhams were out of order to tell a courier to go away "official statement they quote, I believe is no longer required". I've never had a customer tell me to go away(would probably never deliver to them again) most sign for the item they ordered and return in the same transaction, the goodwill is really between courier and customer and not with the supplier.0 -
Here's what happens with delivery of Wii's from Grattan:
1. Grattan buys them from Nintendo
2. Grattan stores them in secure 'cages' in the warehouse (to stop 'sticky fingered' personnel making them disappear
3. Grattan employs Hermes (formerly known as Parcelnet - try googling their contact details) to deliver them to the customer
4. Hermes takes the Wii from the warehouse to a local despatch depot - then a local Hermes courier collects the item from the depot to deliver to the customer. The number you had on your card through the door was the mobile number of the local courier.
5. If the courier can't deliver they will (in the case of high-value items like a Wii) return it to a secure holding area (probably in their local depot) to then collect and redeliver on another occasion (for lower value items they probably hold onto them overnight)
It sounds like it's Hermes 'fault' for the non-delivery but Grattan are giving you a 'good faith' compensation while they work out what happened!
It also sounds like the wii has either innocently gone awol, or you may have a 'dodgy' Hermes delivery person???? It may be possible to talk to Grattan Customer services and ask them if they have any other Hermes couriers your area (to have delivery made by them?)
I would continue to talk to Grattan only, as your contract is with them and they have the facility to folow through enquiries with Hermes!
Good luck!
Hermes Delivery drivers are self employed and work from a franchised depot.
if you live in a private house phone Grattans and tell them to deliver the item using a different courier because as of <date> you will report any hermes rep for trespass if they enter your property. even if you dont this sometimes works and as a major catalogue co they will have contracts with several couriers0 -

Trespass??????:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I would imagine that, after two years, Kittieme0w has either received her Wii from Gratton, or re-ordered it from somewhere else. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
Hermes have lost two of my parcels - one from H&M, and the other from Dorothy Perkins. Both were very large orders, and both companies took a very long time to refund me! (The status was "Not collected by local courier" so something going on at the depot?)
However the new Hermes guy from my area seems nice - better than the previous guy, who was a chain-smoker in his delivery car (so all my parcels reeked of smoke) and who decided TWICE that a safe place to leave a parcel was inside my wheelie bin! On bin day no less, which is why the bin was outside!0
