Why do you need to know?
The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark
  • I have also had problems with Hermes. The courier put a blank card through my door with no contact number and no explanation as to whether they were going to re-deliver or anything. I contacted Hermes by email through the website on the card and they said that I had to take it up with the company I ordered the goods from - but I wasn't sure even which company it was having not been given any information by the courier. Then when the courier returned to deliver the parcel it was battered and torn, and when I queried this awful service he was really rude and said that it was my fault for not being in when he'd tried to deliver the parcel (on a bank holiday weekend?!). Truly dreadful service. I won't be ordering from any company that uses these cowboys as a courier and I won't be using them for my own business either.

You need to take this up directly with Hermes. As this is an issue with a specific courier, they will have to deal with it. Also talk to your supplier as well, they will need to know.

As far as the parcel is concerend, we often get "battered" packages delivered, from different couriers, but the contents seem to be fine. I put it down to the suppliers poor packaging materials.

But who will you purchase from? As Hermes are one of the largest on-line shopping delivery companies, it would be difficult to find anyone who doesn't use them. Those who don't, are subject to the same vagaries of courier personalities as any other.

you'd think that would be the easiest and most logical thing to do wouldn't you? unfortunately, Myhermes disagree and will only ever talk to the sender and not the recipient.

I have had to ring them several times for something as simple as passing on further information about recipients address location because Hermes have refused to discuss the parcel with the recipient

I wonder what percentage of parcels are damaged due to poor packaging, well in to the higher numbers no doubt.

Our local hermes driver is forever telling me how he has to regularly deliver plants in flimsy boxes. Last week easter eggs.

Once had somebody trying to send a bike without dismantling it. He refused as not even the handle bars was dismantled.

We send out hundreds of parcels for canvas prints and frames and on average have 1 damage per month! This is with Hermes. You could do worse, you could use HDNL :p

What a long tread, thought i will just add to it.
Ordered a laptop from Amazon on 8th May. Amazon sent it yesterday. And judging by the tracking info, it seem to be going away from me instead of towards me in Shetland. If it is "Out for delivery" from Perth or Newmarket, then the driver got a very long drive to get to me.

10 May 201107:19:00 AM Newmarket GB Out for delivery
10 May 201105:45:00 AM Perth GB Out for delivery
10 May 201105:37:00 AM Perth GB Departure Scan
10 May 201104:58:00 AM Perth GB Arrival Scan
9 May 201103:30:00 PM Nuneaton GB Departure Scan
9 May 201103:29:00 PM Nuneaton GB Shipment received by carrier
9 May 201103:30:48 PM Amazon Distribution Center GB Order has been handed over to the carrier and is in transit

No wonder it has a estimated delivery of 16 May, it is doing its rounds around the country! :rotfl:

LOL. I don't think it made it from Perth to Newmarket in an hour and a half. Scotty must have beamed it up. :D

Well, if Scotty can beam it from Perth to Newmarket, he can beam it to me in Shetland! If it is really "out for delivery" at Newmarket, the poor driver got a 600+ miles drive and 100+ miles swim to get to me!:rotfl:

I ordered a laptop from QVC that I returned as it broke *sigh*.

I called QVC and in all fariness a courier was called and arranged to come at my convenience. The courier came, I waved bye bye to my laptop and that was he end of it...or so I thought!

The next thing I know, four weeks later QVC takes the outstanding balance out of my account. The laptop never made it back to QVC and they launched an investigation.

Obviously it's not QVCs fault but it's very frustrating that I had to go on and photocopy the recepit Hermes has given me and send it to their admin department. It makes me shudder to think if I didn't have that little piece of card I would be almost four hundred pounds out of pocket.

I order an awful lot - and I mean absolutely shedloads - of stuff from the internet and this is the first time I have come across this.
