Problem with Hermes Delivery Services

  • Hi,

I've just bought a car part from some one down in Cornwall who not known to me has used Hermes to deliver the item.

I have just spent best part of an hour reading through all of the previous 21 pages and tbh am now really worried that I may end up not receiving my parcel.

    Like many other posters I used the online tracking system and was told the following;

    DateTimeStatus07/04/2011 16:44 Return - Processed By Depot 06/04/2011 14:33 Collected 06/04/2011 05:24 Pick-Up Request Manifested

I contacted their 'contact us' email address and was told that I had to contact the supplier - odd as its a person and not a company.

I have asked the seller to send it to me at work which is a school and is open 5 days per week from 7.30am until 5.00pm when there is always a receptionist on hand to sign for.

Fingers crossed that my parcel turns up ok because if not I'm at the mercy of the seller who has no reason to give me any money back (private sale).

    Ben (fingers and legs crossed)

why are you contacting the courier?
you havent even given them a chance to deliver
what exactly would you expect their customer service to tell you evn if they did CS that way?

Don't take this thread as an indication of a company's service abilities. Out of all the items delivered by a courier company, a twenty page thread spread over two years, is infinitesimally small in comparison.

However, your contract is with your supplier, it doesn't make the slightest difference whether this is an individual or a multi-national corporation. I hope you have given the supplier sufficient details, to tell the courier that they can only deliver Monday to Friday, between nine and five.
The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark

Some shocking stories about MyHermes on the web.

Anybody reading them also remember that most people only bother writing about a company if they have a bad experience. Search for Royalmail horror stories and you will also find LOOOOOADS -- yet they are really quite good with excellent prices.

Back to myHermes though.. I send out about 150-250 parcels per month with MyHermes. Since Jan I have had 1 damage, 0 missing and about 3-4 took longer than the 3-5 days.
Thats pretty spectacular if you ask me.

INMO there is far too many single figure post wonders on this thread for it to be credible.
    HERMES BLACKLISTED US
the guy left our parcels with a homehelp who was in attending to our neighbour,he put card through our door telling us this,i called number on card and told him i was not happy about this, within 5 mins he came to my door and challenged me and wouldnt take his foot from door
i complained to hermes and they say i we are blacklisted becuase i threatened the delivery guy WHICH I DIDNT,i contacted clothes company whom we purchased goods from and they have told us that if hermes dont deliver then thay just cancel our account, surely this is wrong,we have since reported this delivery guy to the police in the hope that he be charged with a breach of peace and trying to enter our house without our permission.awaiting developments

many flats have service buttons and they can be variable/permanent in their operation
you are talking to someone who has delivered to most types of property including many many flats(just ask my knees!)
If the OP says its on permanently then why would they lie?
why would the courier not tuck the card in the buzzers or under the door (as most couriers do in a no entry case)even if they couldnt gain entry?
you can make excuses all day long, but to not gain entry 3 times is unlikely at best

he wont be charged with anything, and quoting my post is pointless since your post has nothing to do with its subject matter
  • Calm down who ever thought I was chasing their tail too quickly - I simply emailed them asking for clarity on what something said on their online tracker.

Anyways the parcel was sent Tuesday via 1-2 speedy delivery, or at least thats whats been paid for....

Hopefully they will deliver my parcel ok and I can stop stressing

    Tracker currently says this;

    DateTimeStatus09/04/2011 10:12 Not Received by Courier 09/04/2011 05:26 Out For Delivery To Courier 06/04/2011 14:33 Collected 06/04/2011 05:24 Pick-Up Request Manifested

Their tracking can be a little confusing at times.

Now & again I will have a parcel collected Mon, it will say collection manifested Wed then arrive with the customer Thursday :s

Other times I get calls from customers chasing up a parcel as the tracking says 'out for delivery to courier' and they think it means they was out when the courier tried to deliver.

Do Hermes offer a 1-2 day service??? :s

  • lol I'm hoping the just deliver! Annoyingly if they had a depot I'd go and get it myself - heck I'd even drive / ride to the couriers house to make it easier.

My friend works for APC and he didnt know the company but did defend some of their actions and told me some tales of very awkward and fraudulent customers so I now appreciate its not all one sided.
