Problem with Hermes Delivery Services

Hopefully
I have to pop out for 30 minutes in the afternoon, but shall be in the rest of the time, although would like them to come early so I can go out for longer.0 -
A bit strange - looks like it's taken Hermes 5 days to get it from the main depot in courier's area to the courier and they've dropped it today. Couriers aren't supposed to be pestered by Hermes on a Sunday and they won't be out delivering it today (well, unlikely) so hopefully it should show up tomorrow
If you look at the OPs original post you'll see the courier had it out for delivery on Friday (14th) but marked it off as a non-delivery. It was suggested he just "couldn't be bothered" to deliver which seems even more likely after the tracking has suspiciously been changed to make it appear as though courier received today, but Hermes depot drivers don't deliver Sunday'sDate Time Status

ETA: in fact it would appear the courier has actually had the parcel since Wednesday (12th) but for some reason didn't attempt to deliver either Weds or Thurs either as it was carried forward then too. Somebody is manipulating tracking data here!!“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

I heard a knock at the door this time and it took me approx 15 seconds to get there - no-one there. No cars/vans I didn't recognise and not one person in sight. A case of knock and run maybe. I refresh the Hermes site 2 mins later and....lo and behold...
What's the point in knocking and not waiting? I read they get paid per drop, so it makes no sense for them to knock and not wait. They must have ran as there are only 3 ways out of my way, 2 take about a minute walking, so I would have seen them and the other is over some railings.
If I put a note attached to the inside of the glass on my door, would they leave it outside? Less chance of it being nicked than the courier actually waiting for me to answer for 15 seconds.
I don't get it. I've never had problems with couriers before and I won't be using any companies that use Hermes again!
ETA - No card was left. Are they supposed to leave one?0 -

Why not call your supplier, or Hermes and ask them. They might be able to get the driver to come back, or at least explain what happened.
It looks like i'm going to have to contact the company I bought the goods from as Hermes are saying they won't contact the Courier. Very unhelpful and I won't knowingly order from anyone who uses this courier service again.
ETA - Company selling the goods say they can't contact Courier until tomorrow as my order states it will be with me January 17th at the latest (today). That's fair enough on their part.0 -

I find that appalling, to be honest and complete bull (not you, Hermes).ETA - Company selling the goods say they can't contact Courier until tomorrow as my order states it will be with me January 17th at the latest (today). That's fair enough on their part.
This may make more sense. The item will be time stated, it will have a delivery day on it. The courier may be holding the item until the correct delivery day. It is also possible the knock you heard was not him/her.The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
It's possible the knock wasn't the courier, although within a few minutes the tracking screen changed to Courier to Re-attempt. That's me assuming they have some kind of hand held device to update as they go along.
The goods didn't cost much as it was a January sale I linked to from this site, but that's not the point. I just feel now that i'm not going to get the goods.0 -
I find it odd about the attitude of Hermes though, there is nothing stopping them calling the courier.
I agree with you, the cost of the goods are irrelevant, it is the service that is important. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0
