Have you tried calling the supplier or Hermes. They can contact the courier and ask him.

It's okay, i'll wait and see what happens next. I googled and was directed here, so thought i'd ask.

Just a little annoying that I was in when they say they tried to deliever.

Are there any issues with access? Does your street have a non-standard numbering system, or is your address a name or number? It could be possible that the retailer has misaddressed your parcel and he turned up at the wrong place.

Our street does have 2 names strangely, but I always put both on any order with anyone and i've never had a failed delivery in 15+ years. Always a first I suppose.

Will give the courier another chance to deliver whilst continuing to check the website for any updates.

I doubt they will try again today or Saturday, but will listen out for them.

This is perhaps where the confusion has arisen. But as you say, although you may not have an issue with this before, there is always a first time. It is possible that he person processing the order has taken it upon themselves to carry out a self correction, or the retailer's system doesn't allow for any ambiguity.

Most Hermes couriers do work Saturdays.

I'll keep my eyes and ears open for them tomorrow and even for this evening, just incase.

Hopefully it's just a case of Courier not leaving a card and not knocking very loud.

    Thanks for your responses.

  • I've manage to score a re-attempt too, and the tracking history has been changed;

    Date Time Status
    14/01/2011 06:22 Out For Delivery
    12/01/2011 15:01 Courier to Re-attempt
03/01/2011 09:01 Hub Sorter Receipt Scan
    30/12/2010 09:23 Order Generated

There used to an Out For Delivery on 04/01/2010 which is now missing. The odd thing here is that I've asked for it to be sent to my workplace, which is a major bookshop in a shopping centre.

I think that due to restricted local parking and the place being a bit of a maze the courier might have given up! I sent Herpes ..er Hermes an email explaining how to find me but no reply, or parcel. Every other courier can and has reached us, a bit worried that it seems so hard for Hermes.

I ordered from Play.com just after Christmas, so I'm rather unhappy now :(

Parking in a shopping centre is going to cost the courier more than he will get for delivering the parcel.

Very true, and the cost of public transport won't be much better for the courier either. I might try the phone numbers listed earlier and see if they will pass on to the courier an offer of a free parking token!
