Problem with Hermes Delivery Services

Those "midland" postcodes look suspiciously like Hull, Bradford and York to me0

Goods despatched by Play on Dec 7th and shown to be out for delivery on Hermes website every day since Dec 11th and still nothing has arrived at my address!
Contacted Hermes direct who refused to deal with me and said I needed to get Play to contact, ironic as Hermes head office is less than a mile from my home!
Contacted Play who say the Hermes have assured them all packages will be delivered before Christmas but to be honest I'm not holding my breath.
After watching the Newsnight report (available on You Tube) about Hermes and how they treat their couriers I will be writing to Play to express my concern and advising that they will get no more business from me until they use a more ethical courier company even if they do have to add a carriage charge to orders.
Anyone have a full list of which companies use Hermes ?
p.s No snow around these parts for the past two weeks so they can't blame the weather but probably will!!0 -

Thats exactly what I did with Dorothy Perkins and Debenhams emailed them and told them when this mess is sorted I want my name removed from the mailing lists and will NEVER use them again until they can find a company who are willing to deliver my goods to a standard I find acceptable. I do believe if enough people complain they may have to take us serious. Good luck with the parcel x0 -
Just off the top of my head I can think of Next, MandMDirect, Debenhams, Evans, Dorothy Perkins, Redcat brands (La Redoute, Daxon etc) Damart, Figleaves, Simply Be, JD Williams home shopping group.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0

I had the misfortune to order goods from Topshop on the Internet to be delivered by Hermes.
The goods were despatched on 8th December. On 14th December we saw the delivery van outside our house, wen to back room to take a call and 1 minute later returned to front Van no longer there, no card saying they had tried to deliver.
I checked next day on tracking, and found a note saying there was a problem with delivery address. I phoned Topshop who rang Hermes to sort out the problem and was told parcel would be delivered next day. Three days later I rang again to be told there was no record of my phone call even though the address problem had been corrected on my account when I checked on Internet. Now they say they can only send email to Hermes and they will take 36 hours to respond.
The van that I saw was the most battered white Transit I have ever seen, and the female driver was looking at parcels via the side door and as each one seemed not to be the one she was looking for she literally threw it towards the back doors of the van. Then drove off without actually delivering.0 -
I ordered some things from H&M on the 2nd of December. They were dispatched on the 4th, and when I tracked my parcel it was "out for delivery to courier" on the 10th. Still not received it. E-mailed H&M few times they are always vague as to when I will receive it "next couple of day" "next few days". Rang H&M yesterday and they said something must be wrong as it should have been delivered on the 10th or the next day. They are supposed to ring me back today. My last order from there took over a week but this is beyond unacceptable.0

I am beginning to lose my patience with this company I ordered several items from Play.com on November 27th, these said items were dispatched on 30th November & received on the 1st of December at one of the depots. I rang Play on several occasions from 5th December & was told that they could only contact Hermes via email & that they could take between 36-48 hours to reply well they still have not replied to Play, I have the advantage of actually knowing a courier for this company & they have enlightened me as the reason why it has taken so long.
The courier who worked my area resigned at the beginning of December & they have yet to replace them even though they have a driver who delivers to an estate 2.5 miles away, so not the weather nor some clerical error because they won't pay a courier to work outside their designated area what a joke.
There is no ice or snow around & it has been fine for over 2 weeks now the item was for a birthday gift but now I need to buy a new one a complete joke of a company, tried to speak with Hermes directly & was told under no condition could I contact them about my package they are not responsible for any issues though after speaking to someone from MyHermes Deborah her name was even she said it is a disgrace they have taken so long to deliver.0 -

It is most definitely a joke.
The courier will have resigned because the pay is appalling, hermes take on self employed drivers at 45p per parcel delivered. Own vehicle used so fuel and running costs etc then have to be taken out of this.
Because the pay rate is so rubbish, Hermes can't get anyone new to take the job on. Plus, this time of year, volumes of parcels are up for xmas and with this dodgy weather the risk of accidents increases significantly (by car and by foot).
There may well be a courier that delivers 2.5 miles away but your area is another round which would mean a neigbouring courier taking on another round (this could mean an extra 50 to 150 parcels a day)
When something goes wrong in the delivery process, the guys in the offices in Customer Service will always blame the courier rather than admit that they have made a mistake. So we delivery people bear the brunt, we get moaned at and verbally abused simply for delivering a parcel that is late.
I would be very interested to know how many of you out there would like to become a self employed driver for Hermes?0 -
I don't know whether to be glad or dismayed at reading this thread. I too have a parcel which has been "out for delivery" for 77hours and counting at the moment. Its from Debenhams, I shall ring them tomorrow I think. Very lightsnow here atm, all main roads are completely clear. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

You know, I was wondering if its possible that the couriers are waiting til they have enough parcels for the one area/street/estate to deliver a few at once, rather than going back and forth for 45p a journey. I wouldn't blame them at all for that, as inconvenient as it is for me as a consumer. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0
