Problem with Hermes Delivery Services

As I said on the Parcel2Go website, I think that courier delivery in this country is broken. If you look on the forum for (mostly) Hermes couriers, they get paid a pittance for each parcel. But, the couriers themselves say that they are reducing their service level, which means a poor service for end customers.
I'm sure that most people here have experienced waiting in for a parcel that never arrives, even though tracking says that it will. And all the other examples of poor courier service, such as tracking that says that delivery was attempted and a card was left, even though someone was in and no courier came even near the address.
What's happening is that firms are contracting courier services that quote the lowest prices, but these low prices are being achieved by providing a poor service, and by paying those who do the actual work a pittance, from what I can see often below minimum wage via bogus "self-employed" couriers.
The whole courier system is rotten to the core in my opinion.
It wouldn't take much to fix. If I knew who my local Hermes courier was, I'd be very happy to bung them £1 (more than Hermes pays them) to send me a text (cost about 4p) the day before delivery to give me a three hour window, and actually deliver on the day they say they will.0 -
Right have just been reading this thread and had to reply.
Today I received my order from House of Frasier delivered by Hermes, it was a Swarovski necklace for my wife.
I opened the packaging that has clearly been opened, (wish I saw this while courier was there) and had been resealed with clear tape! Open the necklace box up only to find no necklace inside!!!:mad::mad:
House of Frasier said they will refund as this is clearly not acceptable but I would have to re-order necklace, no chance I am doing that if they are using Hermes :mad::mad:
I am not a happy bunny!!!
Be warned worst courier ever!0 -
...Be warned worst courier ever!
And exactly what proof have you got that the COURIER did this?
Have you any idea how many people your parcel will have come into contact with on its journey?
As usual the customer blames the courier because they are the only person in the food chain that they see!
This uninformed attitude is the bane of many a couriers' life.
Your parcel was handled by staff at the company you bought from, the people who will have transported it to the main hub, unloaders and reloaders onto different lorries, the lorry drivers themselves, probably a sorter/subdepotmanager too - before EVER the courier got hold of it!
Wake up - any ONE of those people could have done it.0 -
I just want to say a big thank you to my postie in glasgow who has all my parcels delivered up to date with no problems. On another note anyone waiting for Hermes to deliver parcels dont hold your breathe:( My local courier has had my parcels since 9th of december finally got through to the head office today only to be told that the courier may be snowed in and they do not have a contact number to phone and ask so basically give it up to another 2 weeks:eek: and if I have not heard anything within that time contact them. Phoned the companies who I placed the orders with (debenhams, Dorothy Perkins) only to be told that its out of there control must allow 28 days before the can get involved. What is more annoying is that most of the stuff is going to have to be returned as it is now no good to me so looks like I wont be receiving my money till well after the new year:mad:
This is the same company who lost two of my parcels with tesco direct this time last year disgracefull:mad::mad:0 -

^^That is a load of rubbish, they certainly do have the contact numbers of the couriers to contact them and can do it there and then whilst you wait on the phone (assuming the courier answers of course). Failing that they can also contact the area manager (between 9am-5pm) to investigate why your courier hasn't delivered to you. Don't let them fob you off!!“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

Thanks for that think I need to get tough with them. Will call back tommorow and DEMAND they find out what's happening with my parcels0 -
Hermes have the phone numbers of all couriers, but they won't give the numbers out as they are private mobile phones. They will probably fob you off by telling you to contact the companies you ordered via.0

Yip thats exactly what they did when I called really frustrating as its well over £100 worth of stuff I am now going to have to get refunded and could well be doing with it now to pick up gifts to replace these ones. As I said I am going to phone tommorow with a very firm voice and demand something is done.0 -
