Problem with Hermes Delivery Services

I’m really surprised to hear such reviews about The Hermes. Maybe they used to be known for a low quality service but as for me I’m very satisfied with it. Last month I ordered a cell phone from Ebay. And I told in advance that I need it urgently. And it was delivered next day as it was promised. I was very pleased with this delivery service.0

Im waiting on a parcel ordered Sunday 4th December and the current message is:
09.12.2010 19:52:30 Parcel processed at HUB
I've rang H&M who just keep saying 'it will be with you soon' but nothing has happened since last wednesday!!
Any suggestions? I leave the country on Friday and this was all my holiday stuff!!!Green and White Barmy Army!0 -
Maybe there are really serious problems with the delivering of your parcel.:( Fortunately I have never been in such a situation.0

So, I ordered an item on the 8th, and it was picked up from the supplier on the 9th. Here I am on the 16th, and still no sign of it. Honestly, they could have sent it SECOND CLASS POST and it would have been here sooner - what kind of courier company works *THAT* slowly?!
Calling them just now, they have no idea where my parcel is, and they will do a sweep of the warehouse to locate it... wow!

As you can see, the last update was 2 days ago, when it was "not received by courier". Hang on, aren't *THEY* the couriers?!! !!!!!!?!
Oh, and I leave the country for Christmas hols tomorrow, so it will probably be sat in on my doorstep or thrown over my back fence and left in the rain/snow for 2 weeks. Idiots.
Just from this experience, I will NEVER EVER use this company myself.Always after a bargain... :-)0 -

Knowing the Hermes infrastructure as I do, it would be impossible for you to buy something one day and Hermes deliver it the next. My guess is this was not Hermes. I will explain...
First the seller would have to arrange for the phone to be collected by a Hermes courier. Even if this was done for the day you bought the phone, the phone wouldn't even get passed to Hermes sub until the next day. Then it has to be taken to a main hub to be sent out to the sub in your area. Then it's collected by the courier in your area and delivered. This would take a minimum of 3 days. Even if someone worked for Hermes it could still only be done in 2.0 -

No they aren't the couriers. The couriers are self-employed (allegedly). Hermes transport the packages from their main hubs to subdepots, self-employed couriers collect and then deliver. This is the reason you can't contact your courier directly - Hermes are not allowed to divulge their personal contact details (which suits Hermes very nicely thank you as they can then blame everything that goes wrong on the courier!)
Your tracking suggests the following:
Item was collected by a courier from the sender's house/place of business on 9th.
THat courier passed it to Hermes on the 10th.
Hermes then sat on it and did nothing with it for FOUR days.
On the fourth day it was sent to the subdepot in your area (allegedly)
It then for whatever reason did not get given to a courier - might have been given to the wrong courier and therefore returned...or if there was bad weather in that area (snow) then perhaps the courier was unreachable.
The fault here lies with HERMES and not the two self-employed couriers.0 -

How annoying :-(
From what I can see as there's not much to go on, it looks like H and M are more at fault as Hermes didn't even receive the shipment until 9th. So H and M sat on your order for 5 days.
From the hub, the parcel then has to go to a subdepot on another lorry where it will be collected by a courier (or straight to a courier's house). None of that has happened as there's no further tracking. So from the time it's arrived at the hub (9th) to the time/date stamp of the next tracking info, that will indicate the time it's sat at the hub in the hands of Hermes (not the courier).0 -
How thick do you have to be you cannot even write down the correct mobile number on the drop cards...
Its frightening to think these morons are allowed on our roads.
With an attitude like that it's no wonder your courier doesn't give you their own personal mobile phone number!
They aren't obliged to and are not paid to call you or receive your calls.
If you don't like that, then complain to the people who could alter that by paying the couriers a living wage. In particular address your comments to Hermes CEO Carole Woodhead who has just had an exceedingly large pay rise and is now earning FOUR TIMES what the prime minister is on.
Meanwhile, couriers haven't had a pay increase for more than a decade and petrol is on the up yet again.0 -
By the way - anyone who is buying from companies who use Hermes, this is the person's pockets whom you are lining:

(I can't post a clickable link as the site won't let me, but copy and paste it)
How many of you have had a 270% pay rise this year as she has had?
Do you think she deserves it given the posts on this thread?
It's annoyed a few couriers and no wonder.0
