I've always been scared of cottage cheese. Not quite sure what its doing.

I had rocket, red pepper, little cous cous, little bean salad (ie beans in oil and herbs, filling but I'm not a huge fan of pulses) and about 100g chicken. Really craving something sweet now though, have a yoghurt, but I want the chocolate coated apricots I know are in my drawer!

Brother got the results he needs for A-loevels and is off to uni!

It is a bit funny isn't it? I put my pizza hut and pic n mix into foodfocus and yesterday I ate double my daily target cals and only a bit of walking. Not even any misc. AND I'm baking tonight and will end up eating loads of the cake mix and raw butter icing. Hmm.

Well done to your bro! My little cousin, not so little anymore I guess, got 3 As and is off to Cambridge, clever clogs. Did you/your parents ever speak to bro about him getting a job?

Yep they did mum even found him a summer job, lady in the shop said they'd be happy to take him if he could start straight away and came down and spoke to them. Did he go?! He enjoys the time off far, far too much. Reality is going to be a shock to that one.

I've been such a lurker over the last few days! I totally empathise with Birdie about families; I mean, I love mine to bits, but my mum does this thing where she'll make out I'm moody or being difficult, because that's what I was like when I was about 15 and she doesn't acknowledge I've changed! It's soooo frustrating and if I challenge her she says, "ooh, see, you're being difficult!" Grrrr!

Mini rant over :) Well done on reaching the 7lb halfway stage Dinah & Tete (& Cinny?) - you're well on target for the end of September! I lost another 1lb this week, so it's a bit slow, but I did have a wedding at the weekend...

Flower, I think it's definitely worth asking Natwest if they'll do you a good balance transfer rate - if they do then you can use the cash to pay off existing balance quickly before transferring HSBC balance across (otherwise negative payment hierarchy blah blah...).

I'm far too excited that Capital One have just offered me and OH 12 months 0% BTs on existing cards with no balance and combined credit limit of about £7k - will definitely simplify things, as I have a 0% ending in October and £2k on LOB at 5% so should save a fair bit and be able to pay it off quicker - yay!

Lara, well done on your savings! That must be a great feeling being able to pay fees upfront (instead of using dreaded overdraft or credit card!). I can't wait to start saving! I've been squirrelling away little bits of cash to put towards our hols (from piggy bank and free scratchies and topcashback) but I'm thinking Dinah's method of rounding down my bank balance might be good too!

Well, I consider myself to be caught up now!

Congrats to your brother on getting into uni, Dinah! My cousin has just got into Durham so she's dead excited :) Interestingly the wedding I went to at the weekend was a friend of mine who went to Durham and her man who she met there - apparently 85% of Durham grads marry other Durham grads, the highest rate in the country!

On that random fact, I'm off to have my lunch! Laters x

I don't want to force him and won't but I always think his Mum will blame me if he doesn't make an effort and think it is me making him stay away from them. Don't want them to think I'm the evil girlfriend who took him up to london away from his family and then forbid him to see them. I am probably just being paranoid!

That is a funny fact about Durham, the girl who sits opposite me went there and so did a boy in our department (he got her the job). We always wind them up about liking each other.

Sounds like you're the driving force rather than a hinderance to him seeing them.
