I was aware of that simply cos I paid off all the debt from the joint account with the ex, not just half. Doesn't put me off though.

I guess I'm so pro-joint finances as well simply because of the hassle it seems to be having seperate.

And an obscure question. For those of you married, was your OH (or you) nervous to ask the missus dad for permission? And how did they/you do it?

I think I just unconciously always avoided men that go out with the lads a lot as two of my friends who are married have found that a - they have no intention to stop when they're married and b - (for the one who has had a baby) that's actually not going to stop him either!

I think if we had money NIMs would go on horses, but then I'd be happy enough with that, so long as I could go riding too!

I bought £70 of art stuff last week, and yes that was from my spends account, but I fully think it's NIMs business to say 'oi, we don't really have that!'. We keep one another in check.

Supposed to be going to the gym, was looking forward to it actually, but in the last hour my asthma has really coupled with the hayfever to make me a wheexy mess!

Are you trying to tell us something here? Is NIM about to ask your dad the question.

In response to your answer, it was a bit hard to ask OH Dad since he only speaks Mandarin and mine was not up to scratch. If I remember correctly OH just told her parents.

I didn't mean it as reason not to have joint debt, I obviously haven't got banks sussed yet! I would have assumed with a 10k loan for example, that both parties would be liable for 5k, but I guess they just go after whoever can/will pay it back.

You see normally that would have come across in the lighthearted way I meant it, but NIM has told me he thinks I have a substance misuse problem - exclamation marks! He says I use them so much I always seem angry or accusing, whereas I thought they were just lively, so I'm cutting down, I may appear short tempered while I experiment with other, less satisfying forms of punctuation.

I think I was lucky. I was trying to learn a few phrases on the way over on the plane from Gatwick to Hong Kong. I miss Oasis Hong Kong - flights for £75 to and from Hong Kong. 12 and a half hour flights were a bit of a killer - especially adjusting the timezone by so much.

:rotfl: I didn't take it as short-tempered and actually I love a good exclamation mark! There are all sorts of rules in editing like you're only ever supposed to use one per paragraph and definitely only one per sentence, except in exceptional circumstances!! I think they just make text livelier too... I was going to end with an exclamation mark then, but at the last minute I changed to my second-favourite form of punctuation, the lesser-spotted ellipsis. Otherwise known as three little dots...

Aww, never mind! I bet there are all sorts of cultural pitfalls in doing something like that in a foreign language anyway!

I love a good exclamation mark too! I think they're lively rather than shouty! And a full stop makes you seem serious. Oooh, and a love a good ellipsis too ... and an emphasised question?!

Anyway, I'm going home! Will probs be back later as am in full-on itinerary planning mode :D
