It sounds like your sig will be as big as Dinah's Cinny!
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

Right, I've confused myself. So while this will be boring for anyone else, I need to type it out to keep myself on track.
    Current house savings: £3003
Due in June: £550 from prize bonds
    £300 currently saved towards rent
    £420 for Junes rent
    £500 regular saver savings
    £600 from £20 a day challenge....

which means by July 1st we should be at £5373, or 13.4%

Crikey Dinah! And that's over 3 months? If you keep it up like that you'd have your deposit saved in about 2 years!

I need to open a new account for holiday money savings, just instant access and I'm not all that fussed about interest as it'll be dipped into a bit. Any ideas of good ones?!

Erm that's actually over about 9 weeks... at this rate it would be only about 14 months, we're aiming for 2 years tbh. If we get it sooner, great, we can start looking sooner.

ING Direct is the current easy access basic saver. I have one, really easy to set up and payments transfer between my accounts within 2 hours. All operated online:

ING Direct 2.75% AER. From £1. Inc. 2.2% GUARANTEED bonus for a year

    ING Direct*
pays new customers 2.75% AER from £1, with no max. Here, 2.22% is a fixed introductory bonus, lasting a year. Current predictions suggest savings rates will keep falling, so this ensures at least 2.22% interest for twelve months, with instant access. This online and telephone account is NOT protected by the UK compensation scheme but the Dutch scheme instead, which covers the first €100,000 (c. £88,000). For full info on how the protection works, read the foreign banks section of the Are Your Savings Safe? guide.

Yikes Dinah, you're stoming the savings even better than the debt aren't you?! You'll be moving in in January!

In answer to the comps question, no I've never won anything apart from the Galaxy books, tho I've only really been trying for the last two weeks or so. I read a thread on the comping board once where someone posted that they're entering at least 10 comps a day and never winning anything and all the compers came on and said 'well I enter waaaay more than 10 a day' and almost scoffed at the OP. Sometimes I look at what they've actually won though and I wouldn't want any of it - 17 Again 'goodies' and the like - I'm trying to be selective in what I enter. And it's bloody time consuming and boring to boot!

Ooh Birdie was it you who said Elephant and Castle? Genius! :D

4 hols Cinny - Paris next week, all paid for. Somewhere sunny in July, hopefully no more than £500 inc spending money, Bath in October £350 inc spends and NY in November - god knows how much! Maybe a cheap night camping in the Lakes in August or something too :)

I probably enter an average of 30 a day, but I only enter for things we want, or we could easily sell on to boost the house savings.

I don't think we'd actually buy in Jan even if we managed the deposit, we're very seriously talking about starting this new build enterprise thing, if it doesn't work then that'll be our house, if it does then great, we have a business!

I entered loads of comps for a while and never won anything. I once won tickets to something but it was a scam?? Put me off a bit sadly.

Thanks for that Dinah! Says I need a cheque book to my account for the first deposit but I don't have one atm, bum! Going to the bank this afternoon to put a cheque in so I'll get it sorted then. Looks perfect for what I need though, then I'll be able to get my holiday funds going!

The cheque book is to validate your ID. Only savings account I have opened that didn't require one was Egg, that was staggeringly easy, fully opened and ready to use in under an hour, they use your debit card to validate your ID instead.
