Woo! I got an interview for the museum job so I'm all pleased
I know it was advertised on Museumjobs.com so they'll have a lot of people with more relevant experience, but you never know. I've decided not to tell my family and friends about it - I'm sure they're all fed up of me getting interviews, wishing me luck, asking me how it went and me telling them I didn't get it... I know I am!
I'd love to do a dress-making course, but I'm pretty sure I'd be rubbish! I'm quite short and I have to turn up all my trousers and I've resorted to the iron-on hemming stuff. Is that bad?! I don't have a sewing maching though in my defence :rotfl:LBM Sep 2008 debt: £27,927.04start weight: 140.2, week 2: 1380 -
Tinkerbel - my sisters did textiles at uni too, she works part time now as a designer, she knits swatches to sell to designers. The knitting machine does chunky knits, don't know much about it, is the third one she has now, our lounge is getting taken over!0

Dinah am semi catching up (you guys still chat loads!!!)
Just got to the bit about you Mil..........Holy Mary Mother of God what the HELL? Do people really speak to people they love like that? THat is insane. so cruel. why? what on earth does she want to achieve?
I can't believe you didn't lamp her one frankly. Your self control is amazing. I at least would have broken some thing.
And I really have to go shopping now so I will do the rest of the catching up later but I couldn't read that bit without reminding you that you are lovely person who works really hard and you and nim sound like a great couple.
xxxxNevertheless she persisted.0 -

She in fact has acused me of being with NIM for the money in the past, she is very selective in when she remembers I earn a lot more or not. He came to me with savings granted, but the total we now have in our joint savings are roughly the same amount he paid off my CC, and if we were to break up he would get the full amount he paid off back without question. I don't know, I just think she lives on another planet. Yeah if someone were to give me millions I doubt I'd turn it down, but if it was millions with a high pressure job as well, no chance. She just doesn't clock that someone had to work very hard for her to be rich now, and we'd rather be comfortable and happy than rich and stressed.
NIM and I couldn't sleep last night and we had some scary future talks, including whether boarding school was a good idea, when we'd have kids, and how on earth we're ever going to be able to afford a mortgage. If he was earning £20k, we'd be comfortable, until we had kids. So I think the talk got him thinking quite seriously (I just got depressed!).
£20 more in the house saver and I got a MS phone call for £5 next weekend, that's only the second job I have lined up and that is between NIM and I, the work seems to have fallen off a cliff atm.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Morning everyone,
Well just to warn you all i am in a foul mood today!! Dinah after your prompt about my sig needing updating i asked OH to dig out his most recent credit card statement for the HSBC card. And thats when it has come to my realisation that although we have paid £300 off it :j, OH had been spending on it again  not huge amounts and just on little bits here and there so all in all the the HSBC CC has been maxed back out.
Im absolutly furious with OH and made that pretty clear. I was so pleased at how much of the CC we were clearing - might not be alot to some people, but we are on a low income and every last penny was going towards it.
We didnt talk about it last night as i was tired, upset and to be honest felt let down.
Well this morning OH has left me a letter on the pillow when he went to work. Basically apologising, he didnt realise how much it meant to be to get it cleared, and how he promises he is now on board. He also taped his credit card to the letter telling me to do with it as i like, either hide it, cut it up, etc...
Anyway, my plan of action now (please let me know what you think) is to concentrate my efforts on the Natwest CC.- Natwest CC - is in my name, and all my debt
- HSBC CC - in OHs name, but is my debt therefore feel it is my responsibility aswell. It was used to buy stuff for house, food shopping etc before [STRIKE]our[/STRIKE] my LBM
I dont blame him as i know he hasnt had his LBM, and i know he is exactly like i was a year ago - but i just feel angry that he never told me about the spending.Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -
I can fully see why you were angry Flower, but it sounds as though you getting so upset might have brought about his LBM, or if not that a willingness from him to clear it for your sake. While that might not help in the long run if he hasn't changed his attitude, the fact that he was clearly upset that he had hurt you and wants to put it right speaks a lot about his character, even if his understanding of personal finance is a bit watery.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Well done on the interview Poddle! They must like you to have encouraged you to apply and I think the work you've already done with them (albeit making the teas!) will count for a lot. And using the iron-on hem stuff is fine, you're doing well to do your own hems to start with!
I like the sound of the chunky knits Wendz, but to be honest don't think I'd be any good with them either, or with dressmaking really
ETA - how long did it take me to type that?! I started after Poddle's last post!
Oh Flower, how annoying, I can totally see why you were upset, especially as he knew you were making a concerted effort to pay it off. I think Dinah's response is a very good one though, try not to be too angry with him. I don't know what you should do about your payments ... Is the other card REALLY all your debt, eg - if you are living together and it's stuff for the house surely that's shared? You should agree between you what debt's yours (singular) and yours (plural) and look at the interest rates and decide what order to pay them and who's going to pay how much etc.Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0
