My friend lives in a church in London, not very well done in my opinion though (that's my 'informed' opinion after watching Grand Designs anyway!). Seems as though the developers were trying to cash in by cramming as many flats in as they could. I'd love a house with character definitely - I really like those little portholes you get on some! What's the village Dinah I probably know it well by now! (Rosedale is particularly nice but very isolated!)

Marton le Moor I think it was. Also found a couple of staggering gothic chapels in Consett for conversion.

Converted chapels are lovely when they're done right, have you been to have a look around it Dinah? That would be a perfect first house for somebody if you were to do it up.

Birdie - Hope you have fun golfing! It'll be fun, even if you don't think you'll be any good.

After looking at those wigwams, I've moved onto Yurts! :o Would be lovely for a week away next year, found some stunning ones in Cornwall.
We've decided on 2012 for the Florida holiday, not sure if we should have a 'big' holiday next year or just the odd weekend away to give us lots of saving time. I think I prefered it when I just went where my parents did. Holiday planning is confusing.

I know I did! I didn't realise how expensive it was to go on holiday until I went away by myself, and how much planning you have to do! Even when I was paying my way with my parents they still paid for the majority of my food so when I went away with my friends it was such a shock to see so much money disappear on just eating! I wish I could go back to the days of lovely holidays to Florida with my family and only having to worry about spending money!

Well bit of money news for the day. Very shortly you will see NIM and I absoluely blast through the £20 a day challenge for May. The reason for this is NIMs dad very generously gave him e1000 to go into the savings, which my parents have agreed to buy off us for £900. However our house deposit total won't go up quite as quickly, as basically this money will go into the ISA over the next two months instead of paying out rent, although a little bit might be transfered this evening as there is a little in the rent account already.

I was very impressed by NIMs dad this time, I know they've had their differences but he was extremely supportive of him, and respected his decisions. Unlike his mother who is trying to keep up with so many Joneses she didn't even wish NIM good luck in his new job!

That is good news Dinah! It's nice that NIM's Dad is supporting him now, lets just hope that his Mum eventually catches up (and grows up!).
Off in a couple of minutes, yay! I hope I get a Birdie! (I'll have to find out what one is first though...)

Ha, I hadn't even thought of that golf-related pun! Good luck!!

Wow, very generous of NIM's dad - that's what you need in an in-law!! Could you understand what he was saying this time?

That's so nice of NIMs Dad Dinah, and to your parents for buying them off you. Are they just doing it at 2 months rent free then? Hopefully NIMs Mum might take note and start being more supportive too.

Birdie - I'm trying to convince my brother and sister and their OHs that it'll be 'the best holiday ever!' so they'll come along, it would mean we could get a really lovely villa to share. Suggested it to Mum and Dad but there are 'too many Americans' in America, and I couldn't really argue the point there.

Have fun Birdie! Will you get a golf buggy?!

Well 2 and a bit months rent will go into our ISA instead of the rent account, so we won't feel a difference but the saver will! Because we pay £420 into the rent each month (£60 min payment on mums CC in my name) I need to take £60 out of the existing rent account asap and into the ISA.

In addition mum still owes me £150 from my brother after I paid for a bike part for him. She keeps saying she has it ready for me, will have to ask about that again this evening.

Whew, can't keep up with all these posts.

Welcome back Dinah. Self-build sounds exciting. Have you got anyone to help?

Cinny, Tete - I went to see Young Victoria with OH's mum. His dad said he couldn't think of a worse film to see. I'm planning to go to V&A in a few weeks to see the real outfis and furniture. And I've read a review on dooyoo of a Jean Plaidy book on Victoria - she wrote 3 I think and the 2nd is about her relationship with Albert.

Sneaky plan, I like it! My sister just came back from 2 weeks in Florida. I can ask her about costs if you like. The flight she took (Manchester-Florida) was apparently once voted 'Britain's chavviest route'

Now about that French Connection dress. Have you checked whether you can buy it online via a cashback site or nearly new on ebay? :money:
