Walking quickly's the way to go, hasn't it been proven that running through the rain gets you wetter? Absolutely miserable here too, no rain yet but really dark and foreboding.
Happy birdthday Birdie (Ha, just noticed that spelling mistake but I think it's quite a good one!), hope you can enjoy your day despite yesterday's news.
I'm absolutely shattered, discovered a passion for vintage Pyrex that I've always sort of had, ended up looking at pictures on ebay and flickr til after midnight like some sort of casserole !!!!!!
Dinah, hope everything went ok at the meeting yesterday, bit worried as you haven't been on ...Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Morning all! Thanks for the kind words about Tom (have a look see at http://www.justgiving.com/thebuckers to see what an amazing person he was! The total has gone up to nearly £85k now!). Thanks for the birthday wishes too! I feel old!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. Ohhh, I used to have some fab Barbie/Sindy stuff when I was little, a big three-storey house with an oven that lit up and a working shower and a hostess trolley and loads of old 70s clothes because it was all passed on from my older cousins, the house got passed on to the same cousins' kids actually and I had a rebellious phase in my teens where I cut off all the dolls' hair and dyed it green by spraying hairspray on and rubbing a green carrier bag on.
Just been reading about Tom on that link, what a brave young man and an inspiration.Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -

I was thinking this too, hopefully she'll log on today and update us!
Think I'll need to go get my passport photo done today. My mum and sister have asked me to go too Paris with them in the summer which is very tempting, plus it'll mean I can switch mine and OHs weekend break in Scotland in December for a trip to a German Christmas market or something. Hmm, very tempted! It's something like £72.50 for a renewal isn't it?
As for Pyrex and Barbies, I used to collect Blythe dolls! And I have a secret love of Pyrex (Now I've seen the plans for my house I can start buying it and stashing it away when it's cheap!) can't say the same for Barbies though Birdie, I just used to steal their clothes for Blythes!
He's raised a great amount Birdie! I agree with Tete, an inspiration.0 -
I'd never even heard of Blythes til I joined Flickr but I agree they have a charm. There's definitely a market for them!!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0

Hi Birdie,
Sorry to hear about your friend's brother. Have read his story and made a donation - makes you feel quite humbled and ashamed to moan about something as trivial as debt!
P.S. Happy Birthday!0 -
Morning all. Really sorry to hear about your friend Birdie, hope you can enjoy your birthday anyway. The safety of page 54.
At least the evil spirits on page 53 can't get us now.
Don't mock, there is something trixy about 53.Tete_en_l'Air wrote: »I quite fancy joining a knitting group actually!
Lol kind of appeals to me too. And the WI for that matter . But what I really want to find is someone to teach me how to use a sewing machine, but I can't find any classes closer than York. The Student Loans Company are rubbish - even when they're up to date they only send out statements for the previous tax year in November/December. I know that mine is going to go up again this year instead of down and that pees me off!
Why's it going up Poddle?'marbley chocolate affair in the shape of a dinosaur'You just assume that they're 'okay' as everyone gets them, but they still charge massive amounts of interest.
What annoys me most is that they charge interest from the day you get them, not when you graduate, so it's taken me nearly two years just to pay off the interest from when I was at uni!samedwards27 wrote: »Will they ever let me do another MS with a score of -2? What does the score mean/contribute?
Yes they will, but if you have to cancel the next one they'll likely boot you. Sorry about your friend. Some of their clients request the best or most experienced shoppers, so certain jobs are only available if your score is higher than x.Wonder how Dinah's meeting went about her job?
Hope it was ok? She has been very quiet this afternoon.
Sorry Poolie, forums went down when I tried to come on at work after the meeting, and my home internet wasn't working last night. Meeting did not mention redundancies, just restructuring and streamlining.... sounds like my job may mean doing something else or being somewhere else, but as yet no mention of not having it. It was utterly pointless, I sat there and worked out the cost of having us all there for two hours, over £4,500. Utter madness, especially since we're having another meeting in two weeks. My idea is that I will tell Barclaycard I want to close the card and they will offer me 0% then I'll transfer Cap1 cos their )% finishes this month.
Good luck to you, I was hoping for this when I closed my BC last month to transfer my mums Virgin balance to, but I was told it wasn't on offer at the present time.Been very good in the last couple of days, though, cos yesterday I went through that survey list Martin put up and signed up with loads of sites and forum groups and today I finally came out of the Mystery Shop desert and got a job for tomorrow.
Good for you Pilchard. I signed both me and NIM up to the focus groups, we're already with all the survey companies! My OH quite regularly sits there feeling sorry for himself, his favourite thing at the minute is to sit saying 'im bored with my life'......gee thanks!
I'd kick him and say 'well love, only you can change it, stop whinging at me and get out there and change it'!Good luck with all the NY planning ladies! I had 20 days holidays as well and it sucks. Part of my negotiation to go back to my old job was to get a bit more. Does NIM get time in lieu for overtime he works? That's how I built up some extra days painlessly.
I don't think he does but would be very worth him asking, he's friends with the girl whose boyfriend had this job before him, so he can ask when he's next in. The current survey at the call centre ended early, so he's not working last night or tonight, given he's only done 2 shifts there, and he'll be 3 shifts down at the farm too because of Ireland his wages are going to be very, very down next week.Happytogetdebtfree wrote: »Evening peepls :P ive decided im quitting the rush to be debt free ive decided im goingto put in savings in preperation for land or a house deposit.... i mean its all well and good for me rushing to be totally debt free but when i am id need a few more year to accumulate a good enough deposit for a house or land ??, maybe im crazy ive said we would see where we was when that time came re moving selling buying i just dont want to be holding off life ? X what do you peeps think ?X
Honestly? I wouldn't be doing this. I'd be absolutely blasting at the debt and using the incentive of getting the house to prompt me to clear it. The idea of paying interest on a mortgage, loans and credit card when I could be using that interest to pay of my mortgage would turn me cold. Plus all the associated costs of moving and setting up a new house may well push the debt up even further. Why don't you aim to clear the CCs first, then save while you let the loans run themselves out?

Okay so my news:My dad thinks he can get me my own exhibition!!!
His museum has another building linked to it, and the guy who runs the exhibition space in there might have some gaps in the calendar. They've put some wierd and appauling things in there before, so I might be good enough to get in!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
