But you aren't are you? I read all the posts by Toothsmith, welshdent, brook2jack, coldstream - have I missed any? - and find them to be interesting, informative and believable. I thank them for their time and help in pointing us in the right direction, dentally speaking, and I do hope that they will continue to post despite :wall::wall::wall::wall:.

I'm in Illinois actually! And I'm 14!How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -

What business is it of yours how much time people spend on here answering silly and misleading posts about tooth whitening?
Afterall, it's not like you are paying their salary.
It is my business if my tax money is paying em. and the posts are not silly and misleading. everyone has the right to get their own point of view across:pLBM: April 2009 - honest debt figure: Secured: £0.00!! well, apart from welshdent they are all very reticent about how they are working as a dentist AND spending so much time on here. People can draw their own conclusions I guess.
Maybe they've been de-frocked:p:rotfl::eek:
anyway, sorry jasper I've been hijacking your thread

Because we don't pay tax do we.....
BTW Jasper, leading anyone into thinking the illegal practice of dentistry is legal is well, misleading.
I only work six days a week so I have Saturdays off. Not that I need to justify myself to anyone. Just out of interest, what do you do j.e.j?0 -
well that's just it, coldstream. I'm just a forum-user. There's nothing about me (a nobody!) being here and reading/replying to posts that doesn't add up, if you see what i mean. My curiosity about you dentists seems to have scratched a bit of a scab, so i will leave it there..0

What are you curious about jej? You appear to have some sort of agenda so what concerns you - I dont buy the using forums too much idea. Also even if that were the case, it shouldn't matter to you. Tax payers money does not by nhs dentists time it buys a course of treatment - very different. It's not jaspers thread either by the way0

I recieved an interesting notification last night from a forum called Salon Geek (never heard of them before!)
Anyway this person informed me about a friend of hers who is a dentist. and this is what she told me. Now before I post this, I know that you lot probably wont believe me but I dont care anymore.
I have always been an honest person who just likes to get an opinion across, thats all. I am not a kid pretending, I am an adult. If you want me to prove it, inbox me and I will give you my facebook details so that you can see for yourself, I dont mind.
Anyway, enough rattling on! here is the post:-

The gdc and trading standards are not interested, my friend reported someone operating next door to her for teeth whitening to both, her responses were from trading standards to contact the gdc and the gdc sent a complicated email basically saying nothing they can do about it, my friend is a dentist so did this anonymously as she knows that these people are not registered, so what's the point? It's going to continue.....LBM: April 2009 - honest debt figure: Secured: £0.00!! (paid back april 2017) unsecured: £53117.48 (roughly) back with CCCS starting again:(0 -

This was indeed the case a couple of years ago, before the explosion in illegal whitening.
But, as has been posted here time and again, the GDC HAS now successfully prosecuted an illegal whitening company, and they are going for more.
But it's a bit like T.V. licensing - it takes a while to get around.
But - so long as threads like this go on, it will at least be raising awareness within the client/patient base that if they choose to have their teeth whitened by unqualified people, there may well be consequences that will not be covered by any operator insurance. How to find a dentist.
