BTW......... Its carbamide peroxide what bleaches teeth and hydrogen peroxide that bleaches hair.
You would have no gums or teeth left if you used hydrogen peroxide :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

No carbamide peroxide breaks down to hydrogen peroxide which does the whitening. 22% carbide peroxide gives 7% hydrogen peroxide. It's packaged as carbide peroxide because it's more stable than hydrogen peroxide. So your suggestion that everyone should be legally able to purchase 40% plus solutions over the Internet and willy nilly apply it to teeth looks very dangerous doesn't it? Good job it is illegal to do so in the EU ,Australia New Zealand etc and why there are constant crackdowns on advertising on Amazon, etc.

Yes it is illegal to put your hands in someones mouth to do a proceedure. If you click on the gdc website and go through it you will find plenty of cases of denture technicians who have been prosecuted. If someone breaks a denture a technician is allowed to fix it. If they are not a clinical technician and take an impression of the patient they have broken the law. They can supply mouthguards and a patient can take the impression themselves that's legal but if the technician touches someones mouth or takes the impression they've broken the law.

The minute your friend applied the "desensitising solution" or the resin to stop the whitening gel touching the gums , she broke the law.

I have been thinking the exact same thing!!! welshdent was on here alot yesterday, and I was thinking to myself, why are these people not working then????

I think a lot of folk on here are grateful for the patient advice given out by toothsmith et al over and over again when answering the same questions that people ask. What business is it of yours how much time people spend on here answering silly and misleading posts about tooth whitening?
Afterall, it's not like you are paying their salary.

My friend does not carry out the treatment on pregnant women or if they are breastfeeding as this is not allowed.

So I would say that this is a small victory for me and my friend:j

I cant wait to tell her :p

What will happen on the day she carries out whitening, with this 'safe' substance (That happens to be washing powder bleach!) on someone who has only just fallen pregnant, so doesn't know yet?

That will wipe the :p off everybody's face.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

It won't be a problem TS because sodium perborate is also linked with fertility problems. So as long as the males keep their top up appointments the testicular atrophy and decrease in sperm quality and production should mean the ladies don't get pregnant. And ,of course , it could be the ideal contraceptive for the beautician etc applying it as it's 100% absorbed through breathing and as they are heating up the gel with led lights!

Ironic that the EU is according to government ministers going to relax ,for dentists only, the rules governing hydrogen peroxide yet are looking at banning sodium perborate for all cosmetic uses like other countries. Ironic that sodium perborate is being marketed by illegal toothwhitners as 100% natural and 100% safe.

well this is a whole nother thread perhaps.. :rotfl:and btw one of your fellow 'dentists' on here vociferously denied being 'salaried' a day or two ago!

I'm just curious, that's all. I KNOW my doctor/dentist/optician has not got the time or the inclination to faff about on an internet forum.

Jej you clearly have an issue with the dentists here but as the person who denied being salaried - i maintain that - if I don't work I don't get paid. So as I'm on holiday you don't need to worry about wasting any of your tax money on me while I use a forum :-)

To be fair no one has any guarantee anyone is who they claim to be on an internet forum. Any if us could be 16 year old school kids from Minnesota. The people to trust with your dental health are your dentist , hygienist not some random people on the Internet or some person whos spent hundreds of pounds on lights and chemicals and a little bit of "training".

Similarly if you are thinking of "investing " your hard earned cash in such a "business" look at the gdc website or if you don't trust that contact a lawyer who is experienced in medico legal matters as illegal practice if dentistry is a specialised area. Don't take the much copied "legal advice" which is an identical cut and paste job on every dodgy whitening website.
