You may want to reread one of your earlier postings. NB sodium perboate is a bleaching agent used in stain removers, over washing powders and dishwasher cleaners. Once it comes into contact with water theain chemical produced is hydrogen peroxide

We have all got our own opinions on this subject. Technicians who use peroxide, big no no for me. The non peroxide gels, thumbs up!

I agree that alot of dentists do get very upset by this and yes if untrained people are using peroxide, then I agree, its absolutely shameful. But, I believe, that they also get upset cos people are taking away their business. I have also found out, that some dentists actually use over the recommended (legal) percentage of peroxide in their gels. And some dentists are being investigated because of this, so why do people such as yourself, not kick up a big stink over something like that?! Is it because its a dentist, so its ok????

People need to be careful, people who live in glass houses and all that!

All research shows hydrogen peroxide at 0.1% is totally useless for whitening teeth. So if the gel your friend uses actually does something the sodium perborate is releasing alot more than that!

So now you are happy hydrogen peroxide was used and is the active agent in your friends 100% natural perfectly safe gel that doesn't contain bleach or peroxide? A little deceptive if she is advertising this don't you think? Mind you it is deceptive if she is marketing herself as legally able to whiten teeth.

I have had my teeth whitened using Zoom 3D and although it did work it was very expensive. So then, I decided to get the home kit from the same cosmetic dentists.
I had moulds made and was given four tubes of carbamide peroxide 22%. I had to sleep in the teeth trays (which was not a nice experience) and this still was very expensive.
As I had no bleach left and dint want to pay the same price, I shopped around and came across a fab website (search for super white teeth whitening in google - new user so cannot post links!)
The tubes are double the size and the carbamide peroxide is twice as strong at 35%. Also, I got 4 tubes of remineralising gel with the pack which really works as I used to have sensitive teeth when i used the previous stuff.
The best thing is, I only have to wear the trays for 15mins every other day.
They have all different strengths available and you can also buy the trays to mould yourself but I dont think they will be all that good.
The pack I got was like a 1/8 of the price of what the dentist in liverpool charged me but i can say I will never go back there again (well maybe if I need a new mould)!!!!!!!!

The only reason Government bodies have put a stop to traders selling teeth whitening products is that they will be at a huge loss.
Products being imported from abroad (eg. America, where the legal limit of carbamide peroxide is 40%) are mainly tax free and the only tax made by our Government is the duty tax invoiced to the freight companies.
I use 35% carbamide peroxide which I buy from America and my teeth are absolutely fine.
When I had 3D laser in this country I couldnt speak or open my mouth for 24 hours as my teeth were that sensitive.
Im not going to argue with American laws, have you seen the majority of Americans teeth!!
America has legalised many many drugs (health drugs) and products that this country hasnt..... I ask myself why?

BTW......... Its carbamide peroxide what bleaches teeth and hydrogen peroxide that bleaches hair.
You would have no gums or teeth left if you used hydrogen peroxide :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

You will see that it says here that it is illegal for tooth whitening products with over 0.1% peroxide to be supplied. The gels I am using don't have any peroxide in them. I really think you should take off the blinkers and pass on some of the other stuff on here before things start getting very expensive for your friend.

well, I don't know about the tooth whitening debate but am I the only one who is wondering what these 'dentists' do when they're not spending much of the day on an internet forum..:rotfl:

Some of them are on here *all the time*, often writing detailed posts (as in the above discussion) - When are they supposed to be practising??

I have been thinking the exact same thing!!! welshdent was on here alot yesterday, and I was thinking to myself, why are these people not working then????
