If you check the website ,as you should always do, it tells you who does the treatment and their qualifications. This is a dental surgery so they will be qualified, legal, and carry insurance in case of problems.

However your first port of call should be your own dentist ,who will probably be able to do the treatment, or if not at the least be able to tell you if your teeth/gums are healthy enough etc.

Fascinating...... the address for complaints from the whitestrips website is https://www.crestwhitening etc which is exactly the same company who appear to be asking how to get around the law making selling of these products illegal in the uk

They also use https://www.crestwhitening etc as a complaints address. This company appears to know they are selling products that are illegal in the uk

Don't want to advertise the crestwhitening strips site so missed some of the address off. But the older "testimonials" for both sites are identical. Here is the complaints part from the whitestripsforu website

"GENERAL WHITENING DISCLAIMERThe results of teeth whitening are subjective and individual bleaching results vary from person to person and The McCann Agency Ltd cannot guarantee a particular result. It is critical that you strictly follow the individual product instructions. Not following the instructions could, among other things, damage your teeth and gums. In some instances, even if you follow the instructions bleaching may result in blotchiness or a non-uniform tooth surface. The effects of teeth whitening fades over time and individual results again vary. Unexpected results may occur and may be irreversible. By buying a particular teeth whitening product, you accept all the risks associated with tooth bleaching and release and hold The McCann Agency Ltd harmless The McCann Agency Ltd is led to believe that nearly teeth bleaching studies have been conducted with 10% carbamide peroxide(CP). We therefore recommend that you use this level for your tooth whitening needs. There is no or limited research with any of the higher strength bleaching gels. The purchase and use of the higher strength gels is done so at your your own risk and The McCann Agency Ltd is not liable for your results or damage from using the higher strength gels..REFUNDS Due to the nature of our product, refunds/cancellations will not normally be given. However, if you have a complaint please contactenquiries@crestwhitestrips.co.uk.

REFUNDS Due to the nature of our product, refunds/cancellations will not normally be given. However, if you have a complaint please contactenquiries@crestwhitestrips.co.uk. Refunds will be given at the discretion of the management."

So you have no recourse if you are damaged by the products, you have no right of refund, they sell products which they won't guarantee are safe and the same people seem to run multiple websites.

second link works ok for me just scroll down page to see question and answers.

Whitestrips site also has no postal address interesting as trading standards have just started raiding suppliers of whitening supplies.

I have searched the forum for smilequest and only found posts from 2007, some stating they were illegal and being closed down. Well I assume that wasnt the case as they are still operating.

I am interested in using their laser whiteneing services and want to know if anyone out there has used them? Any good? Safe?

For £297 which is what they quote for a first time treatment you will probably find a dentist to do this safely, rather than a beauty therapist with a couple of hours "training".
The first prosecutions for illegal tactics if dentistry of whitening "salons" only took place earlier this year so will take time to reach everyone.

Polanight is an at home whitening system, the idea is to whiten your teeth for a couple hours a day/overnight for 2 weeks. Depending on which product you are offered from enlighten, its 2 weeks home whitening +/- in office whitening (without lasers/lights, and its not power bleaching). However, i would say the quality of enlighten products is superior in almost everyway

    [...]
You are comparing a different products from different companies (SDI and Enlighten): You are right that Polanight is a home whitening product, but in the same way that Enlighten Evolution Home is (same active ingredient, except that that Polarnight come in 22% carbamide peroxide option as well). Both companies also offer hydrogen peroxide based products too. And both companies also offer office based whitening (PolaOffice+ in the case SDI). Unless you've tried comparable products from each respective companies, I am going to have to take the "superior in almost every way" assertion with a pinch of salt.

I am not making any claims either by the way, having only tried one product, which I didn't "pick". I personally don't want my teeth whiter than they are desperately enough to pay £600. Saying that, my previous dentist gave me some Polanight to use as a "freebie" (well, I suspect that they simply charged me more for my Invisalign retainers) and fair enough, I am not against getting my teeth, say, two shades lighter (humble expectations?) at moderate cost.

Still, with 4 syringes, I reckon that I can only get 5-6 treatments out of it. So I am here to see where I can get refills at reasonable price. I am going to quote ch0ccy in this thread (https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3115362

The site I found was www.happysmileuk.com, stocks a lot brands but don't have Enlighten. There's also www.polanight.co.uk which looks like their official site. Maybe buying from them would be better?
Happysmileuk.com and Polanight.co.uk have both also been mentioned in this thread. But has anyone bought from either of them?

Incidentally, I don't think Polanight is as "official" as some posters have speculated earlier (years ago) in the thread. The site may not look too bad, but I still found it a bit more "cluttered" than SDI's own site (http://www.sdi.com.au), and I thought it was a bit odd that both happysmileuk and polanightuk were doing the exact same deal this month.

So I decided to do a domain lookup:
    http://webwhois.nic.uk/cgi-bin/whois.cgi?query=polanight.co.uk&WHOIS+Submit.x=26&WHOIS+Submit.y=9
    http://www.betterwhois.com/bwhois.cgi?domain=happysmileuk.com&x=53&y=17

Notice something there? It doesn't mean that they aren't selling the real stuff, or that they aren't "authorised" distributors, but as confirmed in their own disclaimer:
Legal Disclaimer: SDI, Polanight, Poladay, Polazing, Polaoffice and Polaoffice + are trademarks SDI LTD (Australia). By visiting www.polanight.co.uk you accept our terms & conditions and website & legal policy. Polanight is distributed on this site by the PDS dental group. We must make it clear that when you are using our dental site (POLANIGHT.CO.UK) that you are NOT dealing direct with the manufacturers (SDI LTD AUSTRALIA) but you are contracting with PDS UK an independent dental re-seller of Pola dental products. You can visit the manufacturers DIRECT in Australia by visiting: www.sdi.com.au ( We are not SDI LTD Australia). If you wish to contact SDI LTD Australia then you will need to contact them direct. Thank you.
They are not part of the manufacturer (again, it's not necessarily an issue - chances are, you don't buy Intel CPUs from Intel; but my concern is that they almost try too hard to be seen as the official deal).

I trying to get the list of distributor from this page (http://www.sdi.com.au/en/distributors.html), but frustratingly, you need to fill the form and I didn't receive anything after waiting 30min on a disposable email account I used earlier. I'll try again with another email account later.

In the mean time though, has anyone bought anything from either of those two websites?

To answer another posters question , you will not find an "official supplier" supplying to the public as it is illegal to do so in the EU,Australia and New Zealand.
Anyone supplying whitening products to the public or beauty salons is doing so illegally which is why there is high turnover of these companies.
