Advice on Teeth Whitening Discussion Thread

does anyone know roughly how much it would cost to have teeth whitning?0

Hi. I've been looking into this recently. There are quite a few places in my area advertising the laser whitening for about two hundred pounds. The thing is, none of them are proper dentists, one is a sun bed shop! so I am a bit dubious.
I got a quote from a very well respected dentist in my area that does a lot of cosmetic work and that was £600 so quite a lot of difference but I think I would be more inclined to have it done by a dentist than someone who has been on a day course! - bit out of my price range at the moment though!0 -
Why pay all that money for the treatment when Bicarbonate of Soda does the same thing?0

For goodness sake dont have it done by anyone other than a dentist, there have been some awful cases following this treatment in "beauty salons".
Personally I find the over white teeth we see on so many actors/actresses now very false and quite comical.0 -
Check with your dentist - ours offers various packages from £180'ish for a home kit to £360'ish for having it done in the surgery.
Be careful of the Internet offers going around at the mo. I received an email offering a home whitening kit 'free' - you supposedly only had to pay £3.49 p&p. When you looked into it though it was a 'free for 14 days' and various charges (3 x £57+ ?) would then be automatically charged to your card. Can't remember the exact details but was deffo not what it purported to be. Another site offered me a 'special deal' but a condition was that I only had 2 mins to accept the offer!! Didn't even read further into that one. If it's a good offer then no need for the pressure in my book.Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

No it doesn't!How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
It whitens teeth and doesn't make it look false. Its also whats in most whitening tooth pastes. I'll stick to that rather than fork out on cosmetic dentistry. Personal preference.0

ta for all the help i'm thinking of buying this as a xmas gift so would only use a dentist
the dentist in our are that do laser treatment is priced between £300 - £400 for the laser treatment
here's where i'm confused some dentists in our area offer "home kits" only which is a bit cheaper but not sure which to choose for the best.0 -
i paid my dentist £300 for a home kit which used pola night bleach
he gave me 10 syringes - after which i didnt feel i had achieved enough of a whiteness so he gave me 10 more
i also had approx 5 appointments whilst all this was going on
a year later i went for my regular check up and commented how ifelt i could do with a little top up and he gave me another 6 syringes - result
all in all i found it great - i did it really slowly so didnt suffer from any sensitivity and it wasnt glaringly obvious that i was bleaching them either:j MFi3 wannabee :j
